I used to end up at The Moon in Northbridge quite often. What a shithole.

July 2010. Was at Uluru, and doing the obligatory photos of the rock just before sunset. While we were taking our photos, the full moon rose right over the middle of the rock as the sun went down behind us. Brilliant.

I once lived out on a flat plain in the middle of an agricultural district. The moon enabled you to see for miles. Hiking in the local national park up to ridges with a view of the whole area was also a highlight( generally we did this drunk)

When we drove home late at night on deserted roads(generally stoned as dope was legal back then), we would turn our lights off. You can quite easily see the white lines on national highway one. We figured that we never ever come across someone blocking the highway, or cars parked on the side of the road with deaf people in them. A car on a still night doing 110 k's,makes alot of noise, so we figured that our lights were not what alerted people to our presence. if another car was sited coming the other way(you could see them for miles) we'd turn our lights back on at the appropriate time.

It was also good fun sitting in cars being towed on car trailers having cones with a full moon and the driver turning off the lights on the tow car..



On anther nite,out on a jetty snapper fishing, you could see for miles as well. In fact one night we watched a white pointer of around 5 meters circling a snapper school some 50 meters from us, in shallow water. We ended up getting a 25 pounder that night.

I think your first 'harvest moon' is something you dont forget.

I remember seeing my first one when I was about 9 when I was riding home for dinner. I ran in to tell my parents with this huge wtf look on my face (why is the moon 3-4 times larger than normal???)
