That's right MM, a broken leg is a hell of a lot better than a knee or ankle reco. Hopefully it is a straight forward break and he'll be right for a full pre-season. Our year is done now anyway, would have been worse news had we got up today. He was having a great game too until he went down, was easily in our best few players.

Dunno about that. He was walking up and down the boundry when he came off the field. Not sure you would be doing that on a broken leg.

I thought the article said 'suspected fractured fibula'. Fractured > clean broken.

It's a fracture if he was fine to walk the boundary without crutches?
Fracture is just the medical word for a break. Saying something is a fracture doesn't mean its any better than a break.

What is important here is that the concern is for the fibula. That's the skinny bone on the outside of the leg. It doesn't take the bulk of the weight like the tibia (thicker bone at the front aka the shinbone), ie. why he was able to walk off. So if its only uncomplicated damage to the fibula it should heal up pretty quickly and he should be right for a good preseason. A fractured fibula certainly isn't in the same category as your Michael Barlow/Sam Blease etc where both bones are broken.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Pendlebury fracture his fibula in the 2008 finals series and nearly play the following week?

Not sure, I have some vague memory like that, but a fractured fibula is not a very serious injury. Should have no lasting implications and will be able to do a normal pre-season. It's a lot better than first suspicions. Much better than doing a hammy.

Hmmm ok.
How did he actually do it? I didn't catch the replay just after it... was it from hitting the ground, or a collision with the other player?

From memory it was in a marking contest with ?Gibson, who came in from the side and hit Davey's leg with his knee...
