First time I've heard of this so can't vouch for it but thought it may be of interest to some.
Looks like any sponsorship is for the group rather than sponsoring an individual player.

Marcus gets the Saints on board
THERE will be a strong St Kilda flavour at the Marcus Fraser Ambrose at Corowa Golf Club early next month.

Saints stars Sam Fisher and David Armitage will be joined by former teammate-turned Bomber Brendon Goddard (BJ will be sure to POINT in the direction of any wayward shots). Just joking BJ, we'll look forward to your FS selection in 20 years or so....
Former Saints captain Stuart Trott will also attend.
Trott, who captained the Saints, played 159 games for St Kilda and 41 for Hawthorn in the 1970s and 70s.
Australian golfers Peter O’Malley, Wade Ormsby and Matthew Millar are also locked in.
It hits off on January 8, with the two-day ambrose event to start the following day.
There will be several key prizes up for grabs, and a generous bounty for a hole-in-one on the 18th hole on the Sunday. There will also be a sportsman’s night on the Saturday and a free junior clinic on the Sunday.

Still ranking us low but no doubt this will rocket up once we have enough kids with 50+ games under their belts.

St Kilda's midfield is a work in progress, with senior hands Armitage, Montagna and Steven propping up an exciting batch of youngsters. Not surprisingly, the developing Saints finished 14th for clearances, scores from clearances and hitouts to advantage in 2015, but, in a positive sign for the future, fourth for pressure acts. Former Magpie Freeman and draftee Gresham will add much-needed run in time, but the Saints won't be putting any great expectations on them in 2016. – NB

Highlights of 2015 AFL season.

19. St Kilda beat Western Bulldogs after remarkable comeback

What a game. The rising Bulldogs were dominating the lowly Saints, having kicked seven goals to one point in the second term to lead by and led by 49 points at half time, only to see a St Kilda avalanche – led by young gun Jack Billings – overrun them in unbelievable fashion. David Armitage was outstanding with an amazing 45 disposals and Jack Steven has 32. Seven points was the final margin in the type of match that even if you didn’t support either club, you’d sit down and watch the replay. Remarkable.

We ranked pretty high in pressure acts / tackles which is a good sign for the future with a young team.

Led by Jack Steven, David Armitage and Mav Weller, the Saints showed strong intent when it came to the in-close stuff. They applied 121 more tackles (5.5 per game) than their opposition around congestion and also applied plenty of pressure across the field.

For those into Dreamteam...

In 2015, St Kilda finished 14th on the ladder with only six wins to their name.
Although it wasn’t a memorable season, their AFL Fantasy numbers were through the roof with three players averaging in the top 10 average scorers.
David Armitage (MID, $592,000) started the season on fire averaging 121 in his first seven games.
He is now rated as a premium midfielder in the Fantasy game and finished the year with a personal best average of 107.

The trick now for Armo is to maintain that 100+ scoring.

To not do a Nathan Jones & be a consistent 90-100 scorer, go for one year at 108, then drop straight back down to sub-100 again.

Confident he won't though.

Outside focus for lighter, leaner Dunstan (learns from Armo)

“I’ve lost two kilos – two and half kilos. Obviously I’m just trying to improve my running which has been a bit of a focus over the off-season and the pre-season.
“So I’m trying to focus on that and keeping my intensity up around the ball as well. Just making sure that when I’m tired I’m still switched on and intense around the footy.”
Last year’s Trevor Barker Award runner-up, David Armitage, pursued a similar course 12 months ago, with the results speaking for themselves. The lighter Armitage produced a career-best season, adding an ability to inflict damage on the outside to his bullocking work in close.

Now, Dunstan is looking to emulate his teammate’s transformation heading into the 2016 campaign, picking Armitage’s brains on grocery and dietary habits as he continues to shore up his routine.
“I’ve spoken to Dave about what he eats to help me with my diet. I’m not finding it too difficult now; I’ve got my routine down pat and it’s working well for me,” Dunstan said.

Hard to imagine that Minchington wouldn't also benefit from trimming down a bit to help improve his running ability. Surely he doesn't need to be as meatbally as he has been. He needs to be able to run out games a lot more than he needs to be physically powerful.

AFL game driving economy in Mackay

AFL: The game between the Brisbane Lions and St Kilda Saints is the first AFL game to be held in Mackay.

It's hoped St Kilda star David Armitage, a former Mackay junior will take to the oval for the landmark game.

Harrup Park general manager Michael Jones said the game would be good for the region's economy.
"We are advertising into Rockhampton, Townsville and all the western towns, to try and bring people here," he said.
"We want to show again that sport can be a driver to bring sport into Mackay."
