If he's willing to leave for cash / guarantee of not losing his spot, then the Dogs would be stupid not to beat that. Could easily pay upwards of $500k x 3 and not even blink an eye, while also plugging a serious hole in our defence
$100k difference and after tax more like $60k x 3 years would you leave ?

For that difference he would stay at Richmond and become a 1 club player for life, Would need to be $200k+ for him to move imo

Yeah that's why I said upwards of 500k. It would depend on Richmond's offer, as well as the likelihood of him playing.

Jordan Roughead was one of our best clubmen, helped coach the women's side and won a premiership with us. When it became clear he would not be guaranteed games going forward, he left for Collingwood with the clubs blessing. Similar happened with Trengove leaving Port. Sometimes the players want to know they'll get to actually play too, which helps with moving

Chicken Nixon used to say at least 150 to change clubs in Melbourne, 200 plus to change states.

An extra 60k in your annual kick vs life membership, one club player and opportunity for a flag again?

He started his career very injury prone, i think he will slow down very quickly soon. Hes given his all, but the sort of player who will go from being solid, to a liability very quickly. If he gets any decent offer he should take it.

Spot on man.

Seems a bit silly to sign so early as a UFA? Feel like he could have tested the waters a bit more and definitely got more years and probably more $ p.a too.
Tigers have the best culture thats why, he would have indicated his desire to stay on and tigers say thats great we love you and will give you a reasonable deal for 2 years, Dave says where do i sign.

Good for you and your club. Not the best for Dave though, if he does a knee in the next two years and he's boned himself out of a guaranteed extra one or two years on the biggest contract he'll get in his career.

Tigers would be rubbing their hands in glee at this signing.

There is more to life than money.
