Unfortunatly David Calthorpe has succumbed to his buttock/back injury and will miss the rest of the season possibly ending his career. North are likely to place him on the long term injury list and promote a rookie.(Mark Hilton perhaps). Anyway its tough luck for the guy.

Injury updates on Carey and Winnie

Monday, June 18, 2001

Kangaroos AFL coach DENIS PAGAN rates skipper WAYNE CAREY a good chance of playing against Hawthorn on Saturday at the MCG.

CAREY injured his ankle against the Western Bulldogs two weeks ago and was expected to be out for up to six weeks.

But he trained with the Kangaroos this morning and medical staff have told PAGAN that CAREY is a good chance of being fit.

The news is not so good for team-mate WINSTON ABRAHAM.

He's still not fully recovered from a knee injury sustained in the opening match of the season.
