What will happen when he hits the field this time.
I predict 72 disposals, 14 goals and a gary moorcroft-esque mark.
The crowd will be so startled their heads will explode out of awe
I guess I better prepare

Hi guys,

pardon my ignorance but could someone shed some light on David Ellard in terms of the type of player he is etc. Could he be that hard inside mid we need? All I know is he's fairly short.

Has to be the worst player ever to play for the carlton football club, atleast it explains why is has only ever played one game before and this has to be the last ever match.. disgraceful performance

**** mate, it's been one half of football. If everyone who played poorly in their first half of footy got the flick, we'd need a list of 100

Completely nullified Priddis and had a team high 9 tackles. Much improved second half as well. No need for the shit that was put on him at half time in this thread, we've seen Lucas, Henderson, Hampson, Grigg, Yarran etc all have their disposal effected by nerves when they're playing their first game of the year. Full credit to Ellard for the way he played tonight.

Made Priddis look completely silly at times :thumbsu:

I like the boy, should give him some more time and let the nerves settle, I wouldn't judge his kicking on tonight too much.

Absolutely dominated Priddis. How you guys can attack him after that game is beyond me. Fantastic effort first up. Coughed up the footy but it's his first game in 2 years and would have been nervous. Well done Davey!

Most of the attacking of Ellard's game would have been at or before half-time where personally I thought he had been average. Credit to him and the team for a fantastic second half though. Hopefully this is the beginning of a return to form for the team and we take it up to the filth next week.

I might have jumped the gun, in saying he was the worst player ever, it is just frustrating watching players under NO pressure who can not hit a target by either foot or hand and as the team was pretty pathetic in the first half he was an easy target.

He was better in the second half, however I don't think he should be in the team, he did a reasonable job tonight in his shut down role, however you have to be able to hit a target most of the time to justify a game of AFL IMO.

There must have been a reason for why he has only played one game in his career, R7 2008? It appears to be his ability to hit a target.

I thought ellard played pretty good for a rookie who hasn't play in over 2 years. Surely 9 tackles plus a solid job on an inside mid will keep him in next week!

Can mods change this to a roast?

Back to the seconds you hack!

3 idiots in a pod :thumbsu:

Ellard was very good tonight.

His kicking was ordinary but you have to consider the role that he was assigned tonight.

Tagged Priddis and almost completely nullified him. Priddis had very little impact and he has been their best midfielder for quite a while.

Ellard's skills were not great but his endeavour was there (9 tackles) and I'm sure Ratten would be rapt with his performance.

I'm really getting sick of morons like you 3 that have absolutely no idea.

Oh, so has long as we have 22 players who show endeavour each week, that will be enough to get us a cross the line, doesn't matter if that can't hit a traget?

Who hasn't got no idea again?

It's not about having 22 of them, he did his job and more as a tagger. We might need him now with Armfield out and I'm sure his disposal will improve with experience just like Yarran, Henderson, Lucas and pretty well everyone else's has.
