It's obvious Evans was stressed from the beginning of the investigation, with sudden weight loss being mentioned early by Caro, and his reactions recently are all signs of intense levels of stress/anxiety. Having had anxiety issue over shit that's far less heavy and doesn't involve others myself, I can't imagine how such a heavy tipping point would be for Evans right now. Despite the fact I'm extremely suspicious about his role in creating that stress for himself, It's clear he isn't in a healthy place, and I hope that he can get his shit together,

Furthermore, it makes for business stand point for him to return to his business anyway; I can see why this was mentioned in his statement; it's common-sense.

I think the Bombers are probably in a extreme degree of trouble, but aside from Evans resigning, there isn't much to be worked up about here, as the reasons he has given are perfectly valid. I'm sure there's stuff we don't know that did come into play, but we don't know what 'stuff' is yet and there's 200 other threads on here to speculate about it.

Besides, by moving himself from the picture, Evans is driving focus back on the football club and its programmes; not on the board or the administration (which has already verified via the Switkowski Report that it was incompetent/guilty of poor governance).

The information is coming in 10 or so days anyway, just be patient. The Weapon's self-destructing on Monday too, so I'm sure you'll get a few kernels of truth there too.

I just don't see the point in attacking someone who is unwell, just because they may/may not be guilty of being a prick.

If this had happened at the start of the story - i.e. if the Chairman, CEO (and the coach) all resigned then - I don't think the whole scandal would have snowballed the way it has over time.

Of course not, but they were hoping that they'd be able to sail through this without the true story being heard(just like how they got through the entire 2012 season without being found it until 6 months later).

As time has gone by the pressure has mounted, the media have kept squeezing and the AFL and EFC have been forced to make comment on things that they'd wished had not become public knowledge.

I'd happily have him stay (I don't think anyone at the club wouldn't) but he knows better than I his reasons for it, which at this stage look to just be because people outside the club want blood

A potential million dollar fine, loss of draft picks and massive dent to reputation has undone a lot of that imo. The drug scandal won't have been entirely his fault but he has to take some responsibility.

Wouldn't look good if he just dropped his bundle and left as soon as he found out.
He would have tried to do his best with what information was given him at the time, probably fairly tainted information depending on who he was talking to.

I'm sure in hindsight he would have done things differently but none of us have that chance.

Out of everyone at the club with some semblance of responsibility he was the last one that deserved to go

At the end of the day you are judged on how your perform when the pressure is on. By that I mean, when its all smooth seas, even a failure at high school, i.e. Johnny Howard can run things and claim to be successful, its when the acid is poured, where you sought the pretenders from the guns. So when cutting to the chase, when these dudes get a gig like President of an org, those that gave the nod deemed him capable of navgating a path through rough seas. He has failed to pull the right rein. We can talk in hindsigth, but these dudes are suppose to be able to weigh things up and DO THE RIGHT THING. All we got now is some dude, whimping out. Like its tough on the family? really????? And when he made the desicion to go down this path, he didnt weigh up the family? Just a dismal fail by this dude..the end.
