Pfft... Our midfield are the ones who get cut to shreds. Simple minded people pick on the defenders because they can't see past the fact that their direct errors may cause goals, while our well below average(in AFL) midfield get smashed all day, but thier errors / turnovers don't cause direct goals. It's pee brained thinking.

I've told chapmanmagic35 that many times about this but he refuses to look at the stats... pathetic really.. J.Hunt avg 2 errors per game, lowest of all midfield / defenders in 2006. He does get beaten on occasions like every player in the league, but contributes massive.
While the likes of corey, enright and friends run around kicking garbage all around the ground and turning the ball over.
 
Back to DJ... you can see why the coaching panel love him and have perservered with him, goes in hard, lays a very solid tackle, not afraid to back into a pack to mark. But the big minus is he lacks pace and that's where this game's going. Unfortunate really, I loved the 70's game with big marks and solid bumps without the fear of being reported. DJ would have been right at home... But now if you can't keep up with your opponent you're gonna get cut up.

Everyone knows our midfield struggles in this area - thanks for stating the obvious that everyone knows.

Hahahahaha - why do you think none of the footballing fraternity rate Hunt seriously? Probably the most overrated player at our club. He is one player that melts under pressure. Endeavour is good and all that, but mentally, nup. You will moan and whinge if we don't win a flag, but so long as guys like him and Wojcinski are in the best 22, we won't win a flag.

I can't really be buggered going through a search and picking out stats, I have a life and things to do - if you watch - his errors result in direct goals, not to mention the short arming incidents that plaugued 2006. There was more than one. Here's an example - 2005 Semi? We can play the whole 'but it wasn't Josh's fault' if you want, but then you are turning a blind eye from the facts. Face it, no-one, whether or not his goals were freakish, should kick 4 goals in a low scoring game in greasy conditions.

Maybe if he got fitter and played in the centre he would be of more value.

Right now he is a massive, massive liability.

errors directly resulting in goals is part of the backman's job description. maybe the pee-brained tag is apt, i dunno.

ask yerself why was the ball constantly down the swans f50 back in '05???
the whole f'n team got rolled.

Mate, you sound like every other pee brained supporter who cried a fricken river when we lost that game in '05. Indeed the ball got into our forward line 2 or 3 times for the 4th quarter, and we basically got killed. This is a backman's fault??
We had no bench left, + Hunt wasn't on Davis for the entire quarter anyway. How about the forwards who missed goals that game... Neither Chapman or Ablett Jnr even kicked 1 goal that ENTIRE GAME. Why not blame them?

To be serious, you must look at the bigger picture. By your definition, a forward can never make errors... Well newsflash dip****, a forward missing an easy goal is just as big an error as a backman giving one away, its all about how idiot fans like you percieve it. Wake up, look at the game as a whole and you may enjoy the game more and see beyond media hype... pfft...

That's right, shift the blame. A forward in those conditions, in the style of the game played, should NOT kick four goals.

And nor should the defense have to put up with our midfield turning over the ball all quarter. Plus, if we weren't so soft that night, another player would have went for the tackle on Davis but they were all too scared of letting their direct opponent get a posession that they left open space for Davis.

And if you think we won't win a flag with Wojak and Hunt in the side then we DEFINITELY won't win one with Big Red. I'd have Woj and Hunt in my 22 before the red one any day.

My entire point was that no one, two or three players were to blame for that loss. I'm trying to get you to think beyond the obvious, which many fans struggle to do, being the reason that everyones favourite player is typically a forward. Why? They score goals... But when they miss goals, no one points the finger at them. Midfield are in the same boat... They all get in the bests every week (because of possessions), even if we loose the game and they get smashed by their corresponding opponents.

If Hunt melts under pressure so much he would make heaps of errors, but he makes very few... :rolleyes:

Clearly you can't be buggered because you know you're wrong.. I've shut you down with stats before. You're pathetic.. give it up!
