We all have our favourite players and I know it gets extremely hard to can them or hear them get canned. but the fact is everyones head is on the chopping block at the moment , one bad game and everyone will dive on you now. This week is going to be interesting for so many cats , Nathan , Johnson , Enright, Kelly , Joel and many more

The sad part is they are all going to be judged by 2006 and there 2007 season under Thompson , and there will be most likely big names axed at the end of the year because of it. Its going to be a shame to see how some of them would have performed under someone new.

DJ was fantastic, yet again. I'd have him in the side before a number of people, particully, Hunt.

Yeah really stuck it up us on Sunday , Brent Harvey absolutely toyed with this dud on Sunday, so much that it cost us the game. As i've said many times before DJ just can't go with any player with footy smarts, but when will Bomber wake up to this?

I've had a gutful of Bomber playing favourites.

DJ is no more effective than Hunt as a defender. Hunt is the best kick in our team, disposal is one of our major problems.... WTF??

This thread should be held up as an example of the fickle nature of Geelong supporters. Starts out praising a player, ends up bagging him. Classic.

FWIW, DJ has done some good jobs in the past (just two weeks ago in fact). He was pus on the weekend. That doesn't mean it's the end of him.

thats bull, the guy has never been up to it. im still waiting for when we play collingwood and DJ for the umpteempth time doesnt stop him getting onto his left foot.

I'm not surprised that you can't see the benefit he brings to the team.

i do appreciate johnson's hardness and not shirking a contest but he gets beaten too easy and too often.

what perceived benefits apart from being a good clubman and giving his all does johnson bring?

Actually Johnson is rarely beaten. Conceeded 14 goals last year (5 on Mark Williams in round 22). Obviously Johnson is not going to do well on Williams, if you take that game out he conceeded just over 1/2 a goal a game and 15 possesions. That is not a man that is "often beaten"

3 goals in 20 minutes on sunday...thats nearly 1/3 of his "conceded" goals from last year.

he probably does better in run with roles through the midfield than playing on the last line of defence. the good half forwards/pockets will tear him up.

he is no better or worse than hunt, yet josh gets towelled in this forum.

And DanA, for those who have said DJ is "worse" than Hunt, remind us how many goals Hunt had kicked on him last year.

It's a matter of getting the right matchup for him. He blanketed Stevens and did well against Johnstone and Mitchell.

Wells was not a good matchup for him. Adam Simpson would have been.

Probably his two worst games every were against Collingwood (geez I hate Didak) & on the weekend. Johnson should have been on Wells on the wing he is the obvious choice if Wells is going to be tagged.

For what it is worth I think Hunt is a good player and should come back in for Corey Enright. In fact I think there should be wholesale changes with;

Tenace, S.J, Hunt & Ottens to come in
and
Enright, Kelly, Jnr (rested) & King out.

You weigh up what you lose by not having an attacking midfielder with what you gain by stopping one of theirs.

If the benefits outweight the detriments then you do it. There is a place for it in certain matches against certain oppositions.

There is no way our midfeild is better than Norths at the moment. Every team tags.
