I would love to know why all the same posters giving Kingy a hard time for being 100 percent complementary all the time are the same ones contantly bashing the club, players, coach and administration in threads (mainly the game day thread). If you can bring up problems you see with the club why cant he? A person paid to give opinions. I personally like him trying to be impartial, nothing worse than listening to Tom Harley tugging himself during Cats games.

I think you are missingthe point of WHY people give him a hard time.

Was watching the game with my Dad yesterday and he was making comments about King and reckoned he could pull on the jumper again tomorrow.

I replied "Yeah, a bloody Gold Coast jumper" and explained how not only did DK think we should move, but CONTINUED to comment after the decision was made that we should've and CONTINUES to comment about it even now and CONTINUES to jibe at his own club about crowds 'to be one of the boys'.

My Dad was shocked (he's not a glutton for the footy media like some of us) and I then went on about how he was no different to "your bloody dentist mate" in not letting go and acknowledging that the club has made its decision and good luck to them.

THAT'S why everyone gives Kingy a hard time and picks over the negative comments he makes. If you don't like that...... well, tough.

He's just so nice, isn't he. I can't believe that he would ever be the type to send a message out to the players so that all of a sudden elbows were getting lifted everywhere in a specific five minute period.

Can't imagine him doing that, but funny how the Demon players JUST SUDDENLY took it upon themselves to do it all together, all at once.

Go back and watch the replay, begins just as Thompson apparently tries to milk a free but throwing his head back when you can SEE the jolt, almost culminating with the Thomas clip on the chin, but there were a couple after.

But I must be wrong, 'coz everyone just KNOWS that Roosey is SUCH A NICE BLOKE........

Someone on SEN last night said that the Swans employed tunneling as a deliberate tactic against Crywoldt when the Saints were a good side. Then I remembered Mattner tunneling Azza at Etihad which, IIRC, broke his leg. Clearly carried out against the specific instructions of Nice Mr Roos.

Correct. The same Mr Roos who was demanding that Thomas get weeks after Rohan's accident.

some of the posts on here lol.
king is a passionate north melbourne man. end of story.
the opinion that he wanted melbourne to win is laughable.
he's a two time premiership player, multiple all-australian and arguably our best half back flanker of the modern era. he's a champion of the club and performed massively for us. he deserves way more respect than some of you in this thread are giving him. the same people who will salivate over rubbish current players.

king might of had a bone to pick with the club when laidley was here (I get the feeling laidley forced him out could be wrong) but certainly not now. ****ing hell guys shows him a little respect. he's in the media to give an opinion if it's critical of us then guess what - he's like every single nm poster on this board...

FWIW I'm also in the group that think Kingy is north through and through, BUT over compensates in the media so as to appear unbiased.

The half time interview against Richmond was really telling. He was talking with Boomer and you could just see and hear how much he wanted us to win.
He also presents the Mazda Spirit awards on the club website every week.

While I'm always a bit annoyed at how he manages to find a negative, and latch onto it when he's behind a camera and not near the team, I kind of get it. It's frustrating but I get it.

At the end of the day I like, and based on is playing days, also respect Kingy.
There's no excuse for his unhealthy obsession with shit stats though! :p

People defending King try and repost and tag on the end "despite his constant unnecessary views on knocking back the GC offer and potting club on crowd numbers when other teams are doing worse"

Yet to see it.

Wanna be a unbiased media personality and overcompensate. Fine.

Wanna be bitter after getting tapped on the shoulder despite being time? No issue there.

But being plucked from the VFL as a 22 year old and given a go to ply your trade, only to push the GC barrow long after the decison was made to the club that gave you a chance?

F***.Right.Off

I can live with a bad opinion. The one about Thompson and the team overall in that Thompson/Hall game, was simply WRONG (just joining in with the pack of baying dogs who swallowed Eade's BS about North playing the man), as well as somewhat hypocritical.

And his GC views suggest he would bleed blue and white, with a nice strip of gold on the sleeve.
Dont forget many had differing opinions at the time, even Arch at one stage said we should go to the Gold Coast.......but we can forgive him, having that opinion at that time because he's the SotC......I bet Kingy's happy to say now he was wrong, but many were and he aint no pat malone..

I have a differing opinion to you about that. Get over it yourself.
You were the one bringing Alan Aylett up in a thread about David King. Not sure what I need to get over.

Maybe it's time the Mods closed this thread. It really is quite disappointing to come onto a North Melbourne supporters board and constantly see people rubbishing club legends just because of different opinions or for something they may have said while commentating. Hell, what next, a thread dedicated to rubbishing John Longmire because he now coaches another team!!

The fact that he thought the club wouldn't survive in Melbourne doesn't change the fact he left everything out on the field for the club and is one of our absolute champions.

Gerard Healy was driving the pro-Melbourne theme of the telecast anyway. I can think of hundreds of broadcasts/segments when King has been pro-North.

My opinion is totally irrespective of the commentary on Sunday.

He is a former North Melbourne player and without a doubt made a huge contribution to the club on field, and for that I have respect for. He is carving himself out a media career and more power to him. But all this talk of him being pro-North is total horseshit.

Boo hoo. Someone disagrees with you in a thread you disagree with.

Very simple. Total respect for these people for their work on the field. Kings work was first rate, tough and hard, literally bled for the jumper on numerous occasions. As for Aylett, I grew up in a house where he was treated like a god - I kid you not. I never saw him play, but have heard from others that did and once again respect everything he did for us while running inside the white line.

Off the field different story. The problem I have is that THEY are the ones continually bringing up something that was done and dusted SIX YEARS AGO. And every single time they bring it up, the media have their fun all over again - ignoring the fact of where we have climbed to both on and off the field. King especailly as he is more in the immediate media eye and brings it up at least once a fortnight.

Kingy's last sidesplitter at the Club's expense was a few weeks back when he told Big 'Ed that hearing the umpire or the siren was never a problem at North games because he and the team of the 90s only played in front of family and friends.

What a crackin' gag. Big 'Ed laughed and laughed. He would have filed that away to use against JB next time we're putting our case for some AFL funding. Poor North! Nobody follows them! Who cares about them?

Would he tell that gag at a North function? Or in the rooms post-game (after a win), when he's in there slapping everyone on the back? I doubt it.

Arch could make the same gag and it would be taken in the intended spirit: light-hearted and meant for TV. Kingy says it and suddenly it's malicious and highly offensive.

Yep, it's very ordinary isn't it.

Sooner thread is locked the better.

We are the Kangaroos though. I don't understand the vitriol. You don't see Collingwood fans cracking the sads when they get called "the Pies" or Hawthorn fans losing it when they get called "Tasmania". Harden up princesses.

As for King, I lost any time for him when he tried to join the ship North north media bandwagon. Great player for the club. Terrible ambassador.

he's allowed an opinion. his opinion would've been based on what he thought were the best interests of the club. we might disagree but he's entitled to an opinion.

he's a champion of the club who was crucial in a great period of our success. just because he thought moving to the gold coast would be better for the future of the club it doesn't mean he is any less passionate about the club or its interests than you or anyone else. I don't agree with him but it doesn't mean I'm a fanatical maniac over anyone who agreed with the gold coast option. They are not selfish opinions based on selfish interests.

and he doesn't over compensate. he presents an objective opinion on all clubs. unfortunately people on here have tantrums any time a former north player criticises the club. like they're not allowed to. yet everyone on here criticises the club on a daily basis - any time a former player does it in their paid role it's somehow the biggest injustice known to man. when you're passionate about something you usually are more criticial. that's just the way it is.

you guys can continue hating him. I'll remember him for the champion he was for the club. I'll continue to wish him the best.
