One’s an incident, two’s a coincidence, and three’s a pattern. There's a pattern there with Kingy. I think it's because he's unsure of how to show up as both a supporter and a 'neutral commentator'.

Dunstall seems to handle things well I think. As an ex Hawthorn player and champion and, until this year, staffer, he shows up clearly as a Hawks supporter without attempting to disguise it. But, he then discusses footy in what I think is a pretty impartial way.

he's allowed an opinion. his opinion would've been based on what he thought were the best interests of the club. we might disagree but he's entitled to an opinion.

he's a champion of the club who was crucial in a great period of our success. just because he thought moving to the gold coast would be better for the future of the club it doesn't mean he is any less passionate about the club or its interests than you or anyone else. I don't agree with him but it doesn't mean I'm a fanatical maniac over anyone who agreed with the gold coast option. They are not selfish opinions based on selfish interests.

and he doesn't over compensate. he presents an objective opinion on all clubs. unfortunately people on here have tantrums any time a former north player criticises the club. like they're not allowed to. yet everyone on here criticises the club on a daily basis - any time a former player does it in their paid role it's somehow the biggest injustice known to man. when you're passionate about something you usually are more criticial. that's just the way it is.

you guys can continue hating him. I'll remember him for the champion he was for the club. I'll continue to wish him the best.
Keep ya shirt on.

Gerard Healy was driving the pro-Melbourne theme of the telecast anyway. I can think of hundreds of broadcasts/segments when King has been pro-North.
Kingy's last sidesplitter at the Club's expense was a few weeks back when he told Big 'Ed that hearing the umpire or the siren was never a problem at North games because he and the team of the 90s only played in front of family and friends.

What a crackin' gag. Big 'Ed laughed and laughed.

For me the above is proof that he'll go with what people he perceives as having a greater amount of clout are saying.

Rather than agreeing that Melbourne just need to clean up their disposal to go on for a big win despite being 30 points down, perhaps, just perhaps he could have mentioned something about our pressure. Something vaguely complimentary.

His MO is to follow what others are saying and agree like a yes man.

So in other words he works in the media?

Yep, it's very ordinary isn't it.

Sooner thread is locked the better.

So you come into a thread you disagree with, then want it locked by Mods because people disagree with you?

Sure you're not a Carlton supporter?........... because your sense of entitlement is amazing.

Pretty much.

However I don't see that Bellend "Say that again" making too many jokes at the Bulldogs expense.

In a field where there are so few people not to listen to King distinguishes himself as just being another not to listen to.

Could be more but is not.

I thought that'd mean he was a * supporter?

It's been covered previously, but on numerous occasions he's been more than forthright in his opinions regarding the GC offer, during times when the club needs the most positive PR it can get, I would argue that he isn't acting in the best interests of the club whatsover. No issue with his opinion that he thought we should have gone, but why trot out a tired old line that is Sam Lane watercooler level talk?

Little as a couple of weeks ago taking the piss out of our attendances, why?

Don't hate him at all, and when watching old videos of the 90's ill crack open a beer and enjoy the highlights he gave us. But if I see him on Fox Footy, just take his opinion like any other punter that gives their two bob.

Don't hate him. Never said I did. Disagree with his opinion and when ..... IF .... he finally bites the bullet and says otherwise about something that has actually been and gone and doesn't need to be flogged like a dead horse, then he will earn the same respect OFF the field that he earned ON it.

Prime example - Sam Kekovich, someone who blatently LIED during the relocation debate but has since earned the OFF FIELD respect he deserves by working WITH the decision that the club made since that day.

He actually came into a thread he agreed with if you read the OP, you are the one in heated disagreement. Maybe you should settle down with the personal attacks and take your negative thoughts elsewhere for a while.

As for David King; legend of the club, has opinions that some people disagree with, still a North man at heart.

Probalby fair enough :-)

As for David King; legend of the club AGREE, has opinions that some people disagree with AGREE, still a North man at heart WHEN HE WANT S TO BE.

Ok.... I'll shut up now.

So you're a big fan of Aylett and his opinions of North then?

Definately. Love Aylett, he has done more to help keep the North Melbourne Football Club afloat than anyone else, and while I may not always agree with him, he will always be a legend of my club and will I always respect his views.

As for King and the King, I think they have been more positive about North Melbourne than a majority of the posters on this board. There have been way too many thoughtless, pointless and spineless threads and posts on this board that it has become a disappointing and at times depressing place to come to. I will never doubt Carey's and Kingy's laoyalty and love for North Melbourne, but I can't say the same thing about some who post here.

Carey wrote an article about not barracking for 'the kangaroos' so you clearly attribute more loyalty to him than he does.

How do you show loyalty to somewhere when you shit where you ate?

This is the most boring topic on the whole of bigfooty.

Wayne Carey/David King get a thread every week over 1 or 2 comments they make in their 20 hours of media, who cares if you agree or disagree.

Do the below comments really matter:
Daw has no idea
Petrie has been crap for most of the year
Boomer is past his best
Thomas dives
Ziebell has to lift
Black has been ordinary
North are inconsistent

Just because you make comments like these doesn't mean you hate the club.
All true bar the Boomer one IMHO.

What a crackin' gag. Big 'Ed laughed and laughed. He would have filed that away to use against JB next time we're putting our case for some AFL funding. Poor North! Nobody follows them! Who cares about them?

Would he tell that gag at a North function? Or in the rooms post-game (after a win), when he's in there slapping everyone on the back? I doubt it.
I admit to not liking hearing this.....

Why doesnt someone who see's him next, explain this hurts the rank and file member who fronts up every week??
Is he on twitter?
Sometime the simplest thing to do is staring us right in front of our faces. Emails still work these days dont they??

I read that article, he said he supports North, but doesn't barrack for them. As he is now a commentator I'm happy with that, and I still think he shows more love and loyalty than some on this board.

Yes it was good he announced his neutrality as required by the UN guidelines regarding AFL commentary.

I've never deciphered out who Tim Watson, Jason Dunstall, Tom Harley, Luke Darcy or Mark McVeigh barrack for because of these stringent media impartiality standards they're all forced to work by.

If people here buy memberships, read the club website and post about North they're showing more interest in North than one of the people you mentioned and possibly both.

Arch could make the same gag and it would be taken in the intended spirit: light-hearted and meant for TV. Kingy says it and suddenly it's malicious and highly offensive.

He could - but he wouldn't. He loves the Club too much.

Who does Dermie barrack for? He saw a list of the AFL's best small forwards the other day and asked who he liked best, he said Rioli and Bruest of course. He didn't have to think about it and weigh them up. He made it crystal clear that he was choosing them because they're Hawthorn players and he's a Hawthorn man.

And probably because they are the best small forwards in the league. It's much easier to be biased when your club is a powerhouse.
