I liked Bartlett when I was kid, now I'll happily deck him if I ever run into him. Not for this...but everything he says these days about any topic of any club, it's just random spew, with never an explanation as to how he came to it. He's a complete f**kwit.
He keeps going on about Simonds Stadium and its upgrade.....does he have a genie that constructs stands overnight we don't know about? w***er for life he's become. Even the rest of the SEN team take shots at him for the crap he says.

Like many journalists he wants to be the first to say "i told you so, when we everntually miss the 8 (in 6 years?!)

In regards to David King, to try and justify his criticism of us is stupid! Fair enough he had his opinion on his leading in to last years finals, but not once did he give us a shot, even though we didn't do a thing wrong in the finals. It was just stubborn and plain unprofessional. The GF edition of AFL 360 Robbo asked "do you give Geelong any chance?" and he responded with a straight "no!"

He is a fool. Just like KB!

It's obvious from this post that KB's humour goes straight over your head.

This wasn't humour. This was days prior to AND after the Richmond game, and then it came up again for the Melbourne game. A few callers rang up and one of them asked outright "KB, you're taking the mickey right? How else can you build a new stand without getting rid of the old one? They even reminded him how many times the MCG has lost capacity to be rebuilt"

I won't forget his answer: "I'm not at all. That ground is a joke, and no one should play there any more. How long does it take to build a stand?"

Well I thought, sorry that Punt Road hasn't hosted a game since the 60s.

Really? He is having a dig at the new stand being built?!
Thats pretty pathetic, a bit of club envy there I think!!

what was Bartlett like as a player?
Anyone mature enough to remember him?

Kinda looked like a bit of a ball hog, from the highlights I seen.....would have to be one of only a few players who'd do what Ballantyne did to Chappy behind the play in RD1 in order to get the footy and have a chance of kicking a goal.
Fair in those days but not fair if it's your own teammate who had to cop that hit in the old jacks crackers :thumbsd:

Hey Footsore , I find him a douche these days but the little bugger could certainly find the pill and put it through the big sticks.
Wouldn't last these days, however, as he used to wait until he was being tackled and bounce the ball and throw the arms out wide to claim the free - either got the free if tackled or kept possession if the tackler bailed. Would be caught holding the ball every time these days.
Also famous for never giving it off - only handballed twice in his career - and even that was at training !!

I don't have a particular problem with him and Geelong, he does seem to make the big calls on everyone. The interesting thing about his analysis in writing us off last year was that I think he placed too much emphasis on the "lead up" type role that Mooney used to play, saying that was an imporantant role that Hawkins couldn't play.

I think that may have been true of previous years, but what I think he failed to notice in the trend of the game last year was that teams were consciously working to fill the space of the lead up player, like say Moons & Riewoldt, diminishing their impact and ability to mark on long leads, forcing them into contested marking situations around the ground and "top of the goal square" contests. So the position itself wasn't as vital as he was making it out to be for us, as late in the season we were almost bypassing that position with longer kicks to the top of the square where we had Pods & Hawkins to at least create some crumbs.

My concern now is that system is still somewhat in place but our forward smalls are either not available or not performing.

He was shit stirring !!
He does it all the time. He is a master troll. And then everyone calls his program.

I love how he pumps up the Tigers to beat the Blues by over 120 points.

I used to hate, hate, hate him as a player. He tore us to pieces.
But I like him now.

He doesn't hate Geelong at all. He has emphatically referred to us as 'The greatest team of all" for 5 years.

And in regards to the stand. He has been carrying on that it's not fair that there are only 200 seats for opposition supporters and the game should be moved. He is just shit stirring for fun.

I giggle when he starts doing it.
Always guaranteed to suck someone in to call him.

He was brilliant, and I only saw the end of his career. David the cat and YPO will know lots more.

Mate he was old, and just had everyone sucked in / beaten.
He used to bounce the ball, get tackled, and hold his arms out like "he's holding me" (that would be holding the man) the opponent would let go, he'd get the ball again and he'd be gone.

He just always seemed to be on his own. It shit me to tears.

the criticism King receives from Cat fans is warranted in my view.
It's not a great deal but this short snippet from AFL Insider is the type of crap I really dislike and it's very unnecessary.

King highlights a few passages of play from the recent Geelong v richmond game and describes our tactics in manning the mark.
I don't care for isolated footage but how he can say we did this all day is blatantly wrong!
I can clearly remember 2 separate occasions from this same game where the Richmond boys did exactly the same thing.

Not only do other teams do this every single week but he also went on to say Geelong did this throughout 2011.

Hawthorn did something similar in 2008, but instead of having a guy at right angles to the man with the ball, the guy on the mark would be on an angle on the corridor side of the guy with the ball. This would mean the player had a "free kick" down the line, but if he wanted to switch play, he had to kick over the man on the mark, which would mean the kick would be higher and give the Hawks players further down the ground more time to spoil a marking contest.

VC summed it up pretty well Bobby....and yes, he was a bit of a hog! He was often called " hungry" for a reason. People used to speculate whether he could actually handball!!!!

Fact is though that he was murder around the goals. He could kick them from anywhere...a fabulous goal kicker.

And a ball player....nothing like Ballantyne at all. Bartlett would never have been involved in behind the ball shit like that. I don't know for sure, but I would be surprised if he was rubbed out at the tribunal more than once or twice...if at all.

A very very good player.
