Is there a more bitter, Geelong hating, irrelevant flog in the media? Wouldnt mind so much if his opinion was based in any sort of fact. For example, Dermott Brereton has often been super quick to hook into Geelong, but always waits until he has justified reason and then hops in. Loves it mind you but you have to begrudgingly accept his POV sometimes out of being reasonable.

That said, David King is anti Geelong flat out, and without fact or reasonable argument 99% of the time. Makes me wonder if Gaz snr ironed him out at some point. For me he is the worst, biased and pathetic "expert" in footy. That coupled with the fact that he was an average player carried by a champion team makes him unbearable. Would love to see lingy iron him out.

Wasn’t he the assistant coach at Richmond for five years and Wallace’s righthand man during that time? What wonderful shape they left that club in. I’m sure Damian Hardwick is ever so grateful to them.

King has put his name up for almost every head coaching gig since the Tigers gave him his marching orders and hasn’t rated a second look.

Just how he’s managed to worm his way into the media spotlight and why he’s taken so much notice of mystifies me.

I don't mind King and thought he took it on chin last year when we won and he got assailed. And his comments are getting smarter.
Brereton, whilst likeable, does not justify his views imo-eg on sen recently he was making incorrect statements about pick numbers in Father/son rule and when a caller pointed out his premise was not quite right, accused caller of being sooky Geelong supporter. Hullo. He says a lot of words but not much content.
Watson is okay but poor form today apparently.

Disagree about Malthouse. Might ave been a flog as coach, but as a commentator he is bloody good, IMO. I haven't heard him say anything about Geelong, for example, that I didn't think was fair and spot on

Don’t get sucked in by his sweeping controversial statements. Every now and again one will fly. It’s how the shallow so-called experts get their gigs.

King has no record to rest on. He was a crucial part of reducing the Tigers to a rabble. It’s taking Hardwick years to repair the damage the Wallace/King duo did to that club.

He’s been after a head coaching job ever since the Tiges ditched him and gets passed over time and again. That’s what the insiders think of his footy credentials. And it’s not as if there have been a truckload of topline coaches in waiting or a shortage of positions.

VC - sometimes I wonder if you are a Geelong supporter... Or are u on the forum to piss us off? Did u see king at all last year? He continually put sh$t on our team, week in week out - thought we were still not up to it when getting into the GF

I have not had the misfortune to watch this AFL 360 programme but I would suggest that if they are discussing AFL nightly and your team lost the previous week, they are going to be critical. They have nothing to talk about.

I really don't see what you can get from these shows except irritation. I find bigfooty has the best and most informed views on your team and you can ignore the non Geelong stuff.

Just turn him off!

I don't listen to anyone in an form of media. I make up my own mind on anything. If I laugh at traditional new journalists, than sport media commentators have no chance of earning a tick in my book.

Theres plenty of decent geelong talk on 360.

Its only kings 15 minutes of dribble that ruin imo the best footy show there is.

Pretty much this, really. All football media is short-sighted, because it generates more interest/hype/ire/sales than someone trotting out the same line of "The season is a marathon, not a sprint" all winter. It might be more reasoned and correct but it makes for boring TV/print. Even Robbo's protests against King in that linked youtube clip seem more contrived for ***DRAMA*** than Robbo actually taking issue with King's opinion. It gets people talking and keeps them watching.

Strikes me he is a self-opinionated, egocentric know all...I suspect he exemplifies these traits outside of football as well.

I didn't like him on 3AW and fortunately don't have too much exposure to him over here apart from his occasional Geelong game. His response to his 360 gaffe last year was amusing, but he'd made such an arse of himself I am not sure what choice he had.

This is not just because of his anti-Geelong bias..I watch a lot of football, not just Geelong, and King isn't much better with other sides either.
