Well my favourite analyst David King is at it again after a couple of week absence on theories for beating Collingwood. Last week he was back;

"Run it through the corridor, isolate the backs - that's how you beat the Pies!"

Terrific work again Kingy, I think that was theory number 15 this year.

But a new week dawns, so he must come up with theory 16. Well, "holy Carey!" he thinks to himself, "Pies won by 52 points, and I said on air that the West Coast talls would isolate and worry the Pies defence. I need something"

But what. Hey wait, let's look around at another club. "Hawthorn", he says to himself, "hey they did something different!" "Oh, now I won't bring up the fact that they played the bulldogs who don't contest and completely play a wide receiving game"

"Hey Mr. Wheatley, I think Hawthorn kicked it and took 180 marks is a style made solely to beat Collingwood"

Well Mr. King, you've done it again. Theory 16 is looking like your best yet.

"St Kilda and the Bulldogs have gone past Collingwood" - David King on AFL 360 during pre-season. Moron of the highest order.

Heard that. He's getting pretty desperate to be the one who calls the 'next big thing' first. I honestly don't mind him as an analyst, but he's really got to get over this obessession over what gameplan can beat Collingwood. Collingwood will be beaten when one of the 16 other clubs put a better side on the park, thats it.

The question I ask David King regarding Hawthorn's apparent "breakthrough gameplan" is;

What happens if it rains when they play Collingwood?:confused::eek:

Because simply put, you can not take 180 marks on a wet night (both prelims will be played at night), and we will not be playing Hawthorn under a roof, so rain, wind and real weather is a threat.

you couldn't take 180 marks against this Collingwood side if you played with velcro mits and tennis balls and had 22 blokes on the field

I don't mind him but i think that because he got on the Collingwood bandwagon earlier than most last year and was unshakeable in his belief the Pies were just that much better than the rest, he now seems obsessed with making some early call on another side that he can ride home.

He was also strong in his pre-season beliefs that the Pies would not go back to back. He seems to be trying to will his prediction to come true.

i like Kingy a lot. Dont see anything wrong with what he is saying. All last year he was on the Pies and no one on here was slamming him then.
obviously other clubs are looking at ways to beat Collingwood's game plan and he is explaining how and what clubs in particular like Hawthorn are doing.

Lets not go over the top here.

Reminds me a lot of Dermie never giving Leon any praise in 200 games because he said he would never make it after game 1.

Did he really say that?I wonder what the hell he based that on,because nothing happened in the off season to suggest that either of those teams would go past Collingwood.It just sounds like wishful thinking on his part.

Luv it Matty.

180 marks - what are they going to do..? Play kick to kick to themselves in their backline...just want we want, the press will kill them.
