Universal Love David Mackay Appreciation Thread

This is the key ......not one poster actually knows what has transpired over the last 6 months ......who's improved and who hasn't

Yet we have posters like Drugs Are Bad Mackay? threatening that his opinion of the coach will be determined by who he picks ......what a juvenile statement !

Typical nonsense from you. Setting yourself up to support the selectors again regardless of which way they go. as Drugs said in a previous post, gameday form is much more important than training form. If you'd played the game, which is highly doubtful, you'd know that great trainers don't always make decent players.

Mackay at his best is a bloody good player. His problem is being able to get back to his best. Whether that is because he has been played out of his position (I think his best position is the wing....not the backline) or that he has just had a flat run....not sure. Perhaps there was too much pressure of him being the link up player and he could not handle it....don't know. In any regard with a better balance of outside run perhaps the pressure will not be as great and he may go back to what he does best. I just think there is too much emphasis on the VB/Mackay bashing on this forum. I think it has just gone too far IMO.
The problem is we have seen his best about 3 times isn't that right Wayne's-World

Look at that AA form

THOSE AREN'T QUARTERS, THEY'RE INDIVIDUAL GAMES

It's funny, those 6 touches in half the elimination had a few of the Dmac lovers suggesting he was back and worthy of promotion to the starting 21. Same posters would no doubt have previously explained why a Lyons or M Crouch 12 disposal quarter from sub was meaningless.

The only thing the older players have over the youngsters is sometimes they can lift themselves out of a form slump easier than them. I'm really looking forward to this season, I think it will show a transformation of our side. I would be very disappointed if we miss the finals.

And what the kids have is improvement in them as they rack up the games. It's a league wide accepted phenomenon that players don't start to hit their straps until they've racked up 50 or so games. These are the players that deserve patience, not guys who have already reached their ceiling.

And shows how little you know about football .......this based on 2015 ........who's the fool now!

I watch football with my eyes mate. Interesting that our club b&f voters, who you so implicitly trust, rated him about mid 20's in our team. I'm not sure which I'd go with, the guys who select him and rate his performance or AFL stats based on strict criteria that handicaps certain players. I see you value him ahead of Talia, not surprising, you have so little idea.

Stop acting immature .....move on

That must have been before my time.

What WW can't get through his big head the beef with DMack was not the lack of talent but the fulfilling of that talent. We are seeing but have had to wait a long long time.
Still waiting

Just to repeat myself, you'd be happy if a bloke who plays midfield pulled in a game that was

13K 16H 29D 1M 2G 7T 2GA 3I50 3FF 1FA and 114 DT / 109 SC

Pity it takes him 4 games to do it.

Current AFL player ratings aren't based solely on 2015 at all. The absence of Laird in the top 187 is more than enough proof of that.

They also use a highly flawed system. The absence of Daniel Talia in the top 187 is blatant proof of that.

Mackay had a shocker of a 2015, apart from 3 or 4 games against bottom sides (Melbourne and St Kilda were two of these from memory) where he showed up and played really well. His B&F results and the fact that he was described by David Teague as 'no longer in our best 22' are clear proof of that.

Noble thinks he does. I cant see us winning a flag with noble at the helm unless he changes his opinions on certain players.

I'm not sure it's the players per se. I see Noble with a list of the attributes common to successful teams over the last decade or so. His method is then to select from our list a team which most closely resembles those attributes. Form isn't taken into account, but age/experience is a key factor. Hence we prefer an out of form experienced player ahead of a 10 gamer who is hard fit and in excellent SANFL form.

But for my purpose .......i wasn't about to let technicalities spoil the story or rebuttal on certain posters ;)
