Fitzroy James Dio II

Yeah, I heard this one a while back (the suggestion that he probably won't attend on Thursday night).

Although anyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess to some extent, it would have been nice to see the past players and officials bury the hatchet, just for this one night.

After all, it is a night celebrating Fitzroy, and I think there is a lot to be gained for the club by supporting any such activities (whoever they are conducted by).

It is sad that this sort of shite happens because if he is named and is not there its dissappointing for everyone involved including David himself. But I guess thats football. People have long memories and it takes time to heal wounds. Crikeys Kevin Bartlett didnt even lob at Richmonds because he is still bitter they sacked him as coach and apparently some bloke at StKFC TOC function asked for appearance money which is blatantly disgusting(Im guessing Elvis Winmar). One dissappointing aspect about the tickets is that they have a Brisbane logo printed on them because they are an organiser/sponsor of the event. Call me petty but this is appalling. In years to come I will look at this ticket and be forced to see the Brisbain logo(as McMahon said in the paper the club that "r*ped" us) in the bottom corner that sticks out like dogs balls. I am looking forward to tomorrow night but am praying it will not be a blatant PR exercise for the Brisbain Bears, Lears, Liars or whatever it is they are called. Maybe I am being too harsh here as without them it probably would not be going ahead. Anyway I guess I will reserve my judgement on them until tomorrow night. As a side note I was listening to 3LO last Satdy and Dwayne Russell was contemplating whether Nathan Buckley was going to be included in the Fitzroy/Brisbane TOC. Jesus H I nearly hit the friggin roof. No other panellists seemed to even know or mention the fact that it was the FITZROY TOC. And they call these blokes experts. I was stunned and tried to get onto talkback to give him a spray but no luck in getting thru. Alas I will give a full match report of the evenings events on Friday if my brain is not to non compus mentus

See ya round

I reckon it will be a huge night. I don't care who is running it. If you are a Fitzroy person & can afford a ticket, you would be mad to miss it. Will we ever get this many Fitzroy legends together again?

i cannot attend as i'm unavoidably detained at the moment, and although i concur with david mcmahon, i would attend and certainly bury the hatchet to heap praise on the legends who gave me so many years of enjoyable supporting. i would suggest that brisbane will be doing some underhanded supporter recruiting, and mending bridges that had been smashed by noel gordon and graham samuel. however, a simple rule should apply

if anyone asks you to buy a brisbane membership, tell them you will as long as they buy an equivalent number in value of fitzroy memberships from bill.

I guess it's a tough one, for those who despise the BL's. But at the end of the day, it's a night dedicated to the Fitzroy players, and a chance for the supporters to celebrate the fantastic history of their club.

I certainly hope that BL don't take the liberty of making another "Noel Gordon-esque" speech, when the Footy Show do a live cross-over. I doubt they will, though.

It would also be in poor taste, IMO, if there was any hint (even in the slightest form) of membership recruiting, or BL back-slapping, on the night. It would really turn people off. It's not what the night is for.

(Then again, as IAMDASH mentioned earlier, perhaps the BL logo is would cause offense to some. Coming from a BL supporter's perspective, I guess it's a fair trade-off, considering the BL input into the night).

I think the fact that the BL's are having an involvement in the night speaks for itself. People can make their own decisions. Perhaps having a night like this could change people's opinions about the club. Perhaps it could be the first move in offering Fitzroy supporters more than what they have in the past (who knows??).

However, hopefully they (BL) won't feel the need to add more words in than necessary!
