How do you know what he is asking his players to do?

What do you expect him to say in his presser when they are smashed by over 100pts?...again.

All struggling clubs suffer from the same problem when they perform badly on the field yet the coach is always the one who gets the chop first.

Norf's Administration is flawed. It's those people that need replacing first before anything from a footy op's department needs looking at.
Feel for him. Some coaches are a good fit as assistants, but just don't cut it as head coaches. Leppitsch and Bolton are two recent examples. I wouldn't give up on Noble in an assistant's role.

I follow North as my second team as I and one of my kids wanted to go to the footy each week and general admission would have meant the AFL gets the cash.

We discussed who we would follow out of the Melbourne minnows (Dogs Saints and North) and North was the choice.

I did not see Fitzroy win a game in 95 96 (missed the three wins) but I went to the North Eagles Seconds game earlier this year, thank goodness.

North's list is terrible. Their BF winner Simpkin is a turnover specialist. Forget about any Brissie player being a poor kick Simpkin(think Mugavin) is far worse. He would not be in the running for a spot in our team. Without Cunnington they are as weak in the midfield as any team I have ever seen as their basic disposal skills are woeful, they cannot get the ball and their tackling is brushed aside with ease.

Noble is not the problem. If your premier onballer has 8 disposals in a quarter and 7 of them are turnovers you are going to get slaughtered. This was Simpkin in the first quarter two weeks ago.

North have traded out their second and third round selections for this year already!!!!!

I would give them two picks at 19 and 20 for the next three years. They have to turn over most of their list the list. It would mean next year they will have 1 (they will finish last) 19, 20 and 21.

Josh Walker has been the only North player who has had the best of his direct opponent in nearly all of his games but he doesn't offer anything offensively any more. He has retreated into a losing mindset as he is under siege continually. The North woes are shown up by this. Our reject is one of their best players who actually offers less than he did at Brissie.

Matho would walk into the centre for them but don't go Matho. It's not worth it.
Forever grateful to the Tiges for taking Mugavin off our hands.

I just watched the first crack segment and didn’t see the clip of Noble giving instructions. They had a clip of his half time interview and his post game interview and extrapolated from there.

I think it is very possible Noble is giving the players a confused message but I agree with ML, you can’t make that call based purely off the clip that was shown.
No way Nobes is giving confused messages to his players. The man is as smart as they come to an excellent communicator.

That’s been one of the stories, in the media, coming out of North all season.
My take is that if you put 40 young men in a room and give them a simple message, chances are that there will be multiple interpretations on what has been said - just a fact of life in any workplace. My guess is that the best coaches keep things really simple and very repetitive and then rely on 1:1 messaging to sort out any confusion. Let's face it Nobes is the scapegoat for a deep seated problem at North that goes way beyond his messaging. I actually hope they make wholesale changes to the place and stick fat with him.

I'm not defending Noble as it is entirely possible that he has been giving confused messages, but I think it is fair to say a good portion of the stories about his 'messaging' to players has come from David King who has been trying to get Adam Simpson to replace him all season. The other norf stories have been more Caro's usual board level machinations or outright speculation.

I am defending Noble. He doesn't give anyone confused messages. He is a smart, astute & excellent communicator. Anybody criticising him for giving mixed/confused messages are full of s**t. David King wouldn't know but acts like he knows it all. S**t media, fake news once again. The trouble with all of this is the media can say whatever they like with no consequences. It's plain garbage what they do.

I think he would if a position was available. I just don't think we'd have a spot for him in 2023.
Does anyone know when Swanny’s contract ends as our CEO at the club, obviously it’s a long-shot and don’t get me wrong in saying that Swanny has done an excellent job as our CEO since 2014, but it wouldn’t be the worst option for him if he decided to choose the CEO route in the future again and came back to live in QLD again.

IMO the next step for all is Swanny takes a job at the AFL, and we move on without him. Whether Noble comes back - which I doubt - or someone else puts their hand up, life moves on.

This isn't directed at you, but wouldn't some Lions personnel just be employees of the club without having a contract end date? I'd have thought Greg Swan would simply be an employee just like membership staff, Strength and Training team, the IT people etcetera - could be wrong tho.
Definitely contracted

The hardest job in football bar none. Especially when you have virtually no chance to shape and mould your own destiny by having to deal with whatever the last coach and list manager left you. It takes years to rebuild a group and implement your own plan.

Maybe Nobes wasn't meant to coach - or it could be his timing is just incredibly wrong. Look at Fages, Fly and Vossy. 3 very different coaches but all inheriting lists and clubs intent on getting better. I'm not sure anyone in management at North actually knows how to go about that, and the players have been flogged by the press and supporters alike. Gold Coast have at least had the guts to give Dew time and reward for effort after years of rebuild.

Either way I get zero joy in seeing a man who helped guide and nurture our club be pilloried and scapegoated by media and know it alls who seem to thrive on who their next scalp will be. I sincerely hope those who bayed for blood are happy now that they look like they got their man.

Whatever his future I hope Nobes comes out of this OK and finds his place back in the football world.

The easiest decision in situations like this in sport or the corporate world is to sack. The hardest decision is to support the intended target and change the culture around him/her. If Walsh is any good at his job and this review is genuinely looking at the whole of club, the decision to stay with Noble may prove to be correct and start discarding the dead wood around Noble and North.

You’ve got a greenhorn President and a questionable CEO…he’s gone

There has been such a huge disconnect with that club from the inside. They gut their own list, ditching players out to rebuild, get in a new coach and at the same time put up some expectations of playing finals right away. Feels like there is about 3 different opinions, and there isn't any 1 overall macro driving direction in that club that everyone is on board with. The signs were there early that Noble was taking on a cursed role. I think he is trying to do something that the club isn't really prepared to do. I think they expect a bottom of the ladder to top of the ladder turn around like we did, yet they are ignoring the 3 or so years of work done before hand.

They need to get their back of house shit together before worrying about coaches. Their playing list still needs so much turn over and work as well.

Lol, Noble really *ed up his career trajectory.

It was a poisoned chalice.

The fundamental coaching principle is setting performance goals (I will run a sub 15 minute 5k) not outcome goals (I will win the race). Focus on what you can control, because what others do is out of your control.

Nobel should have run as soon as the ceo/GM/whichever said 'we will be winning finals in three years'.

Showing they have no idea about coaching. He was never going to get the support he needed, just tons of pressure that would end up on the players.

Get the off field first - the people who appointed him all left virtually straight away and were replaced by football lite folks

I can't believe Noble wasn't able to fulfil North's vision and get them into the top 4 in two to three years. I'm shocked to be sitting here. The leadership of the organisation is cooked.
