Watched the 11 minute post game interview... notice how he keeps pinching and rubbing his neck.. body language would say stress, nervous, uncomfortable. The pressure is building up on him (welcome to coaching Teague) and he knows he's in the headlights. He's another table break away from losing the precious ones on the list me thinks.

I would have loved to ask him who was managing the rotations and whose decision was it to keep our best players out of positions or on the bench at the most important times.

Cripps resting on the bench at the start of any quarter and not being in the guts is just silly.

Geez...
That's pretty damning..

How are the board happy with this?

Agreed. I'd like to think that they are seeing this kind of analysis and informed decision making is applied to determine the best course of action moving forward. Then I remember, this is Carlton...

All for a clean out of assistant coaches..
But, how are they going to change our outcome, when they are bound to follow Teague's vision, game plan and ideals..
Changing assistants may not change our results a great deal, if at all..
He said that in his first sentence. Fresh ideas. We've got an assistant that's been shuffled between underperforming areas for 10 years, never improving any of them.

A new assistant might have the novel idea to change things up when they're not working. Maybe push for dropping an underperforming senior player. Maybe consider playing guys in their position. Give teague some decent support and he might do a decent job. Probably too late though by the look of it.

I would think the Cripps thing was an experiment (not the best strategy at that point) to see who may stand up in his absence, he may be injured and talk/plans may be to rest him for Melbourne if possible. TBH I'd be curious to see how we'd go without him for a game at this point just to prepare for the inevitable long term injury rest period or his leaving.

What fresh ideas would a new assistant bring, that the assistants we already have haven't thought of??
Unless there is a change of game plan, which Teague is against.. We will get the same results
If you don't think a new person will bring different ideas, I don't know what to say. Go about your business. What specific ideas they are, I don't know. I'm not an afl quality assistant coach. I'm more of a John barker type.

We run the same centre bounce rotation more than any other team in the comp. Pretty obvious what could be tested and changed and that's only personnel, not even instruction and positioning...

Can anyone imagine any coach actually wanting to come to Carlton if Teague was sacked?

Teague who was appointed on the back of supporters basically demanding he get the job, to being sacked in barely more than a year's time again at the whim of the supporter base (who also managed to get the last half-dozen coaches sacked too).

Any prospective coach would know there would be highs & lows, and that those lows would get you sacked at Carlton. This poisonous supporter base makes it an impossible job to accept.
He is only contracted till the end of the year isn’t he?

99 percent of supporters arent on BF they are happy to just support their team and let the board decide things. If you think a few whingers here decide things thats your right to do so but I think its absolute nonsense.

I agree he needed to be more proactive when the game swung mid way through the third quarter but arguably we are a better side with Cripps on the bench 😔

How about how to actually set up around a stoppage? That would go a long way to us winning more games.

Based on the last few sackings I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the whingers decide things.

Bizarre to blame the supporters for the senior coaching turnover - much rather the club be accountable to its members than the billionaire backroom 'patrons' who have taken us from elite club to football punchline over the past 25 years

A someone who has criticised Teague's mundane press conferences I thought this one was pretty honest and displayed his frustration.

I am still very much in his corner however, like many, would like to see him display more energy in the coaching box, look a bit more engaged with the bench and players. I have actually never seen him pick the phone up or appear energised. Every time we see him he is not talking and simply scratching his chin. When teams are getting run-ons against us it's rather infuriating.

If the players managed to kick straight and get the lead out to 7-8 goals, it most likely would have been a bridge too far for the Dogs to come back from..

Teague cannot be blamed for that.

Having said that, there have been too many fadeouts from big leads under Teague that cannot be ignored. Sacking him is not the answer, but some adjustments to the gameplan and giving players time to catch their breath and not be exhausted by the final quarter is essential.

I will never forget Parkin in the 95 Preliminary final versus North pick up the phone, veins bulging, and give a fearsome spray to the player at the other end !

we were 10 goals up!

That was Parkin in a good mood. In all seriousness, Parkin was about standards and doing those unconditional things and the team were drilled. Not to mention we had leadership everywhere from Sticks, Diesel, SOS, Dean, McKay, Sexton, Ratten and Bradley. Then look at the additions to the team who were cast offs like Manton, Clape, Pearce and a first year Camporeale who just thrived.

You don't think the supporter base was involved in getting Bolton and Ratten sacked?

Sure those powerbrokers can absolutely be fickle morons too, don't disagree with that at all.

Scott, Clarko, Horse, Hardwick and Bevo all visibly passionate (angry at times) men all premiership coaches.....

Which other coach of a developing team doesn't go and coach from the bench at all?

What I see with those coaches is their players respect them and are even a bit fearful of them. For us, can see the boys taking the P155 in the locker rooms or at the cafe over our head coaches and assistants.

Supporters are reactive by nature, no different to any other club. It's the club politics that sets CFC apart from our successful rivals

Yep. It's called being ruthless. Setting standards. Maybe I'm old school but he needs to display a bit more energy / activity as senior coach on match day.

Yep - I only watched on tv from 2'3rds of the third quarter. Dogs kicked a goal, then we absolutely butchered a couple of chances to kick replies. Then we couldnt get a hand on it in the middle and when we got the ball we constantly kicked to 50/50's, which ended up in turnovers due to mids being slaughtered.
