Would teenie boppers rather watch "Celebrity" Survivor or Tench? I doubt the latter.

Don't be so sure.

The producers would be well aware of Channel 10's strong 15-39 demographic.

They would also be aware that talk shows are generally for the older audiences. But put a computer generated host in there, and you get the kids in addition to the older audience. It's a bit like how an adult cartoon will still get kids watching simply because it's a cartoon.

In some ways, this David Tench show covers all the demographics (potentially).

Its just not going to work, no matter how funny his jokes are, it just wont work. Jokes are all about delivery, which you cant get out of a character like David Tench. He doesnt have the voice, and they just dont sound funny coming out of some ******ed cartoon character, youd have more success with Eric Cartman hosting a talk show. The guests just have to put on this like nervous laugh at every joke he makes, which he tries to make to many of.

This is how it goes:

DT- JOKE! Bad question?
Guest- Awkward laugh. Serious answer.
DT- JOKE! JOKE!

DT- JOKE. joke... question.
Guest. Serious answer.
DT- *stupid inner-thoughts sequence*

If anything, the show will hinge on the writing. A lot of people will find his persona annoying.

I think people will accept that he is a p**s take of a normal talk show host, and will accept the style, because of this. People generally aren't stupid. I don't think he was "annoying"... I don't think that's the right world. Larger than life, would be more apt. But he has to be like that - he is the star of the show.

Yeah, but people have other opinions to yourself.

I think it has potential, and the good news is that it's just the first epsiode. I'm not going to write it off yet, but I'm not going to start saying things like "this will be the show celebrities want to be on".

Very slow first 5-10 minutes but picked up. Live interviews were pointless as it turned out, the best jokes were pre-written.
Not my thing as far as deliberately sitting down to watch it or, for setting the tape. But I agree Ch10 is trying a few things so good on them.

It was ok. I wasn't laughing all that much, but there were some good gags, some area for potential with, I don't know, an entertaining guest perhaps, which will make it worth another watch.

Bring back Micallef Tonight. :thumbsu:

Does anyone else think it actually is Denton wearing the suit(or whatever it is) that makes Tench? I thought he had a lot of the same mannerisms and occasionally sounded like him.

Will suffer the same fate as that chick who tried to get married a couple of weeks ago. Canned after 1st episode.

What a sh1ts show :thumbsd:

Hmmm I dunno really, I mean it wasn't very funny, but I don't think it's a completely lost cause. Needs work, and guests that can better relate to the character. That said, if he was just a normal person, it'd just be a bad chat show with lame guests..

The whole point of 'adult cartoons' is to push the envelope - to get away with stuff 'real people' can't.

This thing didn't even open the friggin' envelope.

As limp and tame as any Rove interview.

Pat Rafter and Ella Hooper? I mean, who seriously wants to sit down each week to watch 'celebrities' of that calibre or even relevance get interviewed by a bloke who can't even decide what accent he is talking in and has about 1 mildly funny joke about every 5 or 6 attempts.

It was still crap. As I thought, but it had some genuinely chuckle worthy moments at times.

The whole time I was thinking, if they had some guests with more personality, or who might be more easily offended, the show would work much better.

Implying Nelson Mandela was a theif was pretty funny.

I caught a 1 minute of it. Just his "La Paglia" accent (half aussie half american) made me switch it off. And yeah the guests he had were not appealing.

I would like to see the guests animated. Imagine how far you could go with an animated Paris Hilton??

to dis-jointed - i thought it was **** - but I went in thinking that so I could have been bias against it.

the problem is that there is really no host/interviewee interaction and the jokes weren't funny and that stupid close up while interviewing pat rafter was pointless.

oh so was return fire crap, considering it was his first show you would think they would wait until show 2 to show crap like that

It will get better, the guests werent exactly A-list and hopefully guests with a bit more personality can help the show out a bit.

As an idea, the whole cartoon Tench, i think its great.
