you can pretty much picture how it's been set up. warner and a few of his teammates are having beers, and just generally shit bagging journo's, and dave get backs to his room, blind as all **** and decides he's gonna go on a twitter war.

it's a bit like when blokes decide to text or facebook message a bunch of random chicks in the hope of laying some seeds. the only difference is no one gives a **** about it.

you feel a bit for these guys when you think australian cricketers for years would've shit bagged journo's in private, but now there's avenues to make it public and make a good of yourself. that said, it's just stupid. i don't have a twitter account but if i did and i became a famous sportsperson, i'd be getting rid of it. too many downsides to the positives of being able to communicate directly with fans.

Warner has been in a twitter war before hasn't he? With Brett Geeves or some Tasmanian quick.. wasn't that long ago.

We all get blind drunk and write texts, facebook messages, tweets and instantly regret them the next day. Difference is we aren't professional sportsmen earning millions of dollars a year and our messages aren't broadcast to billions of cricket fans around the world.

I suspect he'll be given a massive fine but will stay in the side. EDIT: Just saw the tweets haven't been deleted 12 hours after the event. That is staggering! Can't imagine CA would be too amused.

i'd say he is passed out

he'll probably wake up in the morning/afternoon/night and get on the blower:

"oi, [insert random australian player], i had this wonderful dream last night. that muppet craddock was there, and so was the idiot conn, and i got to abuse the shit out of them in front of a bunch of random strangers. it was like heaven. i think you were there for a bit too as well"

out of interest, has anyone got their hands on this book. written about 15 years ago. late 90's book definitely. sitting around the house somewhere. the author and his namesake might have to have a chat one day

Malcolm Conn seriously owned him - classic!

Really? I read the tweets, and it seems like Malcolm Conn entered into something that didn't even involve him (Warner was bagging Craddock, not Conn). Conn flew the flag, and got himself involved.

Also, Conn keeps repeating the same thing on his tweets over and over.

I know it is sport to bag cricketers, and piss on their achievements. This is what bigfooty is all about. Yet if you dish it out, you have to take it. Don't like that, then don't enter the fray.

Warner was over-the-top. Conn should have tweeted once, and then stopped tweeting, as I doubt Warner was in the mood to listening to reason. But Conn baited him, so that he could report on it. So, I feel little sympathy for Conn for copping a barrage. He should have just walked away not tweeted back. Why feed the troll?

Both in the wrong, but if your awarding a winner - then Conn got the TKO, which is no surprise given Warner's intellect. I found Conn's tweet's pretty relevant and I'm no fan of either Journo, but I saw nothing in the article which would have resulted in that response from Warner. Do you reckon the Pom's might have raised the antenna knowing what his response was to what I would term a pretty unobtruusive article?

I'd sledge him incessantly if I was the Poms.
The Pommy players may not need to if the English press gets to him first. Which it will.

The Australian press is nothing compared to what he could potentially cop from the media over there.

English cricketers are well known for their dislike of Nick Knight (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/18185244) so it's more likely they share a laugh over this than sledge Warner.....The media is another thing.

Anyway, Cradock didn't particularly expose anything. he published rumours in a similar fashion to Wilson but didn't put a name to anything. Warner then took it personally, probably because it would be hard for an Australian cricketer in the IPL to not take some of the contents in the article as a personal attack on their decision to play in the IPL, and Warner stupidly took to twitter to come back with a personal attack of his own, which elite sportspeople can not do, freedom of speech and all, and then Conn joined in because it was an easy kill.

An incredibly stupid athlete+twitter usually ends badly, you would think these guys would have mangers who are smart enough to steer them away from things like twitter.

Managers would be steering athletes into twitter, not away.

Twitter is a way to make money off fans, not connect to them.

That's the reason Buddy and whoever else were buying followers.

Get the followers up and cross promote for sponsors.

7:30pm Sydney time. Tweets still there.
