Had an ordinary year this one, but the previous three were top class grade wise. Moises Henriques hasn't done anything in grade cricket for the last few years from what I can remember.

He will be playing for Tassie next season. Lock it in Eddie

He would be a good replacement for Jewell. Also open in shorter forms with Rogers and Hodge (in T20).

Rogers
Warner
Finch
Hussey
White
McDonald
Wade
Hastings
Wright
J. Pattinson
Holland
12th Darren Pattinson

Back up bats Hill and Quiney (for when Hussey and White incur international commitments).

ODD Team
Rogers
Warner
Hodge
Hussey
White
McDonald
Wade
Hastings
Wright
Holland
Nannes

Out of respect to Harwood as his services I would offer the man a one year deal to see if he was capable again.

Question: Would Warner be eligible to play Indian Champions League for Victoria?

Victoria wouldn't leave him out of the OD or T20 side. The only bloke who could have a gripe would be Blizzard.

Did he play all the FRC games this year? I thought he got ditched for a couple.

Reminds me a bit of the Adam Gilchrist situation (not saying he will be as good, or even play test cricket) he was behind the likes of Phil Emery but was playing and performing regularly in One-Day cricket for the blues. He also had a few shield games here and there (as a specialist bat) but hadn't done heaps.
A move to WA and a chance to take the gloves and he was playing test cricket within 6 years. Shield history is littered with blokes who have switched states for more opportunity and have been massively successful with their new states. Good luck to him if he decides to move IMO.
In saying that I don't think Victoria is the best place for him with both Rogers and Jewell being reasonably successful at Victoria, if I was him I'd be on my way to SA, definite opportunity at the top of the order and the chance to bat on a road.

As Punter comes back to Aus for the birth of his second child.

grats punter.

You are not worthy warner, another crap test selection, I thought we got rid of hilditch?

From memory he's averaging about 55 in FC cricket. Excellent striker of the ball, has dominated in the IPL in sub-continent conditions and played quite well in the recent Australia A 'test' matches.

This is exactly the kind of thing Hilditch wouldn't have done. I like it (mostly because he was whom I was saying they should call up if going for youth). Is a brilliant fielder too. Not the best choice overall but could have been worse.

Still got Cox and Chappell calling the shots. Realistically the only other contender was Ferguson who seems to have fallen out of favour. The others like Cowan and Klinger don't seem to be in the frame going by A selection. Oh well Marsh will get picked so we won't be seeing Warner getting a Test cap just yet.

How did Ferguson playing FC during the Ashes? From memory struggled a bit.

Yeah, no problem with this as long as Marsh plays before him. Has done some hard work on his longer form ability, which has been shown with his excellent recent form for NSW and Australia A. Maybe a bit hasty, obviously the selectors don't rate Cowan, which is a shame because he's done everything he could, but I guess they pick Warner with an eye to a possible future.

Is this a joke, he's played just 9 first class games.

Sigh, If you blokes do your research you would realize only 9 games yes, But completely dominated the recent "A" series in both forms of the game Vs Zimbabwe (dont write that off they are not that bad) and South Africa A. He outperformed several others and has recently been playing. He hit 341 runs in 3 FC innings as well as 152 in an unofficial FC game as well.

His scores in consecutive innings to finish the tour were 120 (OD), 152(UO), 48, 82, 211.
OD- One dayer
UO - Un official first class

Clearly the stand out in a side that included Ferguson, Hughes, Paine, Khawaja, Finch and M.Marsh.

Hard to argue with his selection as reserve based on that.

Who bats #3? Mess with Khawaja again or Marsh one off? I suppose Clarke might fancy himself too perhaps.

I think the fact Usman debuted in the spot shows he is earmarked for it in the future. Marsh at 6 for a one off. Doesn't mean he wont get his fair opportunity though.

Will be interesting, While Usman one his test spot in a bat off in the warm up game, this could essentially be the same thing for the 3rd test, with Ponting set to be back by then. Pressure once again to perform but at a much higher standard this time. I like Usman there, But Marsh has a sniff

I'm willing to put up with a lot in regards to picking a side for the future. It stops at seeing David Warner in the Test Squad. The guy is a joke of a short form (50 over games) player and has proven he doesn't have the temperament to make runs when we need him to. If he plays a Test I could almost say I'm done caring about Australian Cricket.

It would however, be funny to see Warner and Haddin out there to see who could actually go out faster.

Did U not see my post with his FC scores of late, plus his profile which list his FC strike rate. Or the fact that in the longer version he bats completely different, right down to the stance. Check into it, bound to be a video around of it. Once again people not looking past a so called short form specialist when he actually is a pretty decent bat, and the only bloke under 25 who seems to regularly come out and state how bad he wants a baggy green. Runs speak volumes and he recently scored a bunch of them.

silly selection, mainly because even if hughes or watson were to go down 5 minutes before the toss, Usman would just go to opener. that said i'm hardly sold on the need to draft in a player anyway, and if we were it'd be ferguson. i guess had paine been fit he would have been sent? i dunno know. the most concerning thing about all this is that Ponting's wife didn't just become knocked up so this was always on the cards, why not pick another batsman in the squad in the first place if you were gonna send cover over when he left?

that said the nice thing about this selection is we'll get to see the people who don't pay attention to any non-international cricket.
