anyway, I would have thought if CA intends to give out a fine for a Code Of Behaviour breach, as you say you would do, a hearing has to take place. I wouldn't think CA can just say you've breached the Code, here's your fine, no you can't talk. That the hearing is taking place by telephone suggests they don't consider akin to a murder trial.....

Came here to post pretty much this, you can't just fine the bloke without speaking to him. So paraphrasing Ramnaresh Sarwan, BACCS, what does James Sutherland's dick taste like?

Craddock is a w***er, one of those blokes that couldn't play the game but because he writes about it, thinks he should be able to influence selectors, captains and players.

Having given a little bit more thought into it, I guess they don't do a telephone hearing for some small on-field stuff that requires a charge or fine, but an off-field incident like this is obviously a bit different. It doesn't really strike me as odd or as a big deal that a hearing is taking place. and the hearing itself is hardly a big deal. it's just a handful of guys on a phone, talking the matter through. warner may not even need to put on a pair of pants!

I've only really caught up with this story today and I am a bit surprised by the outcry. This is David Warner we're talking about. A guy who comes across as one of the more thin-skinned individuals in cricket. When I heard offensive tweets I expected a lot worse. Not a huge fan of Craddock after his support for Katich's axing a few years back. So I think i'll get over it.

"It's a fine line between saying the right thing, and.. And, not."

Good one Sutherland, you knob.

This quote's more worrying I reckon:

Sutherland said CA doesn't have a social media policy, but it might be something it will consider drawing up.

CA must be waiting to see if this whole new Twitter thing is going to take off before deciding whether to bother with it.

Given the punishment handed out for missing homework, is something crazy like missing the Champions Trophy out of the realm of possibility?

I would have thought that if they are being consistent, it's a possibility, all were told to pull there heads in.

What exactly was wrong with Katich's axing?

He was 36 and had just suffered a long term injury.
Our batting lineip with 3 36 year old batsmen had just being humiliated in the Ashes.
The other two 36 years olds were Ponting and Hussey and weren't injured.

I said at the time I would have sacked Hussey. On one hand, i was totally right. he didn't make the ashes. on the other....

One of the old folks had to go. Ponting wasn't getting sacked, and Hussey had just had a ripping series (along with the other 34+yo in Haddin). Katich was the obvious victim. In hindsight, it probably should have been Ponting. But we all know why that wasn't a chance

To be honest I can sorta see why Warner cracked the shits. I don't think any professional sportsman would want their photo plastered alongside an article of that nature. BUt surely even he should be smarter enough to know that's nothing to do with Craddock.

Also I read somewhere that CA (or maybe Warner) said that alcohol wasn't involved. Not buying that, I don't think Warner is getting up at 4am to check out smh.com.au

the web version of the article never carried the picture I don't think. He got woken up someone who saw the article and sent a text or whatever through. He was probably got sent a pic of the newspaper version of the article (see: here). he probably never read the article. he saw the headline, saw the author, saw the pic, and that was the basis of his response/tweets. he finally deleted the tweets, but from memory they never particularly attacked the article. he went on about dickhead journalists attacking the IPL and "sick of being woken up by crap tweets and articles like @crashcraddock1 crap" and stuff like that.

interesting take on SEN this morning after hearing clarke state opinion that warner has potential to be captain.

"there's sticking up for your mates, and then there's sticking up for your mates"

Let's be honest, Clarke has few friends within the setup Warner is far and away his number one. Haddin has been resurrected on two fronts, but predominantly to give Clarke more support. Pointedly Warner was not considered as a V/C option.

Clarke was always going to be uber supportive of "Davey".

I'll have a go. From the ashes squad

Pro Clarke Warner Hughes Wade

Anti Clarke Watson Kahwaja Lyon Siddle Cowan

Neutral or more worried about their spots Haddin, Rogers, Pattinson, Starc, Harris, Bird, Faulkner

How close did I go?

Being half flippant but if Clarke is seriously on the outer with some then team dynamics do come into play, more so then if it is just some petty squabble. This can affect the team in other ways.

Close.

It's a serious issue and it can be argued that it's cost Wade his spot at this point in time (Certainly that's my view in a 50/50 call you should always go with an eye to the future, in this case other issues forced it against him). The Selectors are aware of it and they have looked at alternatives. Bailey was looked at seriously as an Ashes tourist to provide backup or an alternative captaincy option. Assume the worst case scenario; we get flogged in the UK Ashes, team morale drops to an even lower level and the selectors are forced to remove Michael Clarke as Captain - who do they go to? Would Australia ever consider doing a New Zealand by installing a new Captain playing his first Test ala Lee Germon?

It hopefully doesn't happen and Clarke can build a bridge to the rest of the team and get them onboard, but he's going to have to change a bit in order to earn the off field respect required to get their full support.
