Retired David Zaharakis [delisted]

Doubt another club will get him but a club could do worse than have him train with them during the pre-season with the possibility of adding him to the rookie list prior to the season if they like what they see.

Terrible player, can’t believe he has lasted on an AFL list for this long
Last 7 completed seasons: Jed Anderson total 3 Brownlow votes. Zaharakis 38 Brownlow votes…

actually a quick check, over those past 7 completed seasons, the grand total of 2 current north players have collected more Brownlow votes (Goldstein and Cunnington; Ziebell trailed him by 2).

lol what is this? 1 good year in 9 - the comment is correct - very lucky to have stayed on a list this long.

FWIW - Anderson doesn't paint fences when he plays.

So its a simple matter of him either retiring or putting a price on his head and hoping for the best along with 50 others.
Anything else is moot coz he has no trade currency.
He’s an unrestricted free agent and the thread title clearly says that Essendon will not offer him a contract.

So of course he has no trade currency, and will be waiting to see if he has a suitor as a free agent. It’s the nature of the thing.

Zaharakis has won Anderson’s career total (from all his 85 games) of Brownlow votes in 8 individual seasons…

Zaka won a b&f in 2011, but had solid years with 4 or more Brownlow votes in 7 other seasons, including 11 in 2017, when he equaled Cunnington and was 3 behind Ben brown who were births best that year. Last year (2020) he won 10 coaches votes in a3 goal win against north, and kicked 2 50 m goals in the lastfew minutes to drag a draw from defeat against Gold Coast. He blew quad with that last kick which wrecked half of last year, and ruptured a PCL in pre season this year. Yes he’s past it, but the reason he hasn’t played much in the last year is largely from injury, and now the team is in development with many younger guys working into his roles. He’s way off a terrible player - 32 north players in history have won more Brownlow votes.

Your subjective opinion shows it’s worth against objective facts.

Anyone that uses Brownlow votes to compare players doesn’t have a very good understanding of the game.

2017 was his last ok year. Lucky to make it to 2021.

Was more than handy in 2018. There’s nothing wrong with being a career role player.

Writing was on the wall last year but was contracted.

Agree with the sentiment that it doesn’t make sense to create a thread for him though should just be in the retirements/delistings thread.

They aren’t the be all and end all. But they’re a bit more objective than the average mug view.

if you look at averaged performance in terms of career totals forgames played and Brownlow votes, he ends up on both measures somewhere between the average yield from draft pick 1 and draft pick 2.

tgars Not to say that’s where he should have been picked, but there’s a lot of expected quality that doesn’t work out so well.
Anyway I’ve given some objective measures, you haven’t.

Surely north take a look at him. Hes better than polec or Jed Anderson

He absolutely doesn’t. I’d be filthy if we went out of our way to get him on the list, even filthier if he somehow managed to con the coaches into game time ahead of Anderson.

A 32 year old player that can't get a game in a middle of the road team is worthless to North.

End of the day he is most likely thinking is Smith and Tippa are on an AFL list then so should he be

I love that after so many years you are still triggered by the dons. The hatred is deep. Kudos for your long standing commitment ❤️🖤
