Where is he at? impressed at the nationals and i've noticed his name in the best a bit for the knights since then but haven't been able to see him play.. people were touting him as a late first round/early second rounder after the nationals.. where do we all think he's at now?

i'd be suprised if most clubs hadn't spoken to him, he definitely has the body/ability to slot right into an AFL side next season...

discuss..

Early second round I think he'll fall to.
You could throw a blanket over quite a few of these players around pick 8 to 25, it's just a matter of which players really catch the eye of the recruiters. So wouldn't be surprised if he went late first round, or late second round.

Just another thing on a side note, Hawthorn were looking at him quite closely last year, tossing up whether to pick this guy or Dew, and in the end went with experience. So I would imagine they'd be quite interested in possibly grabbing him with their first pick, but it's all just speculation even at this stage.

Melbourne will get him or Lisle at pick 17 I believe.

Correct. We need abit of pace and Zaharakis and Blease are the two we will be looking to pick between with picks 17 & 19 hopefully. Probably not both, but one of the two and a tall forward with the other pick.

What are peoples thoughts on Zaharakis as a player? I havent seen much of him in all honesty, just highlights vids, but he looked alright. Does he have alot of pace and good kicking skills? Or is Blease the better option? Blease looks like he will take a while to get a body ready for AFL footy I think, but Zaharakis looks like he'd be nearly ready to go.

Who would you guys say is better overall? Who is faster? WHo has better kicking? Because that is our main aim with the pick.

I agree with you LT, Zaharakis and Blease would be great fits for the MFC and wouldn't mind either with pick 17. Zaharakis looks ready made but while Blease may look scrawny now, give him a year in the gym and he'll be a gun. Explosive pace.

Wouldn't mind seeing him at West Coast next year. Could use our second rounder or PP to get him.
Pick 18 or 20 he will go to WCE.
We wont let him slip past us, so unless Someone else gets to him with there first round pick I think he will be at WCE next year.:thumbsu:

Blease will go ahead of Zaharkis as he has more upside. Blease could potentially go top 10 as the selections between 7-17 are pretty even. A derek Hine strikes as someone who will punt on a rawer kid with an early selection. Zaharkis should be around 20 but it really depends if the recruiters see more upside. I think he has shown in the last 12 months there has been big improvement so would think he is around 20.

we will probably go with yarran or walters with one of our seconds round picks. depends whos on the board still. i think if blease or zaharakis are still there we might take whichever melbourne dont choose unless we think melbourne will take yarran with the next pick we might take him with 18.

thought i'd give this thread a last minute draft week bump..

3 months later where do we have him going?

2nd round to North

Just saw his picture on the Herald Sun website. He'd look awesome in a West Coast jumper. I hope we get him.

Hope dons dont take him at 23?? dont rate his disposal

Blease well ahead of him after watching Nationals

Dons will take a quality mid (Sidey, Hill, Hartlett or Yarran) dont really mind which one but hope for Hartlett or Yarran

Than we will be looking for a Ruck/KPD. Hopefully one of a Lisle, Mckernan, Davis are still aorund and we can snapel them up and make a fantastic 09 draft for the dons.

His disposal is pretty good now. Not elite bullet passes but his improved it immensely to be more than acceptable- he hits targets even under pressure now. Wouldn't mind him at 28, he has improved a TONNE.

played on david this year and was in awe of him. his clearance work, disposal and courage was just incredible. we played blease this year and watts but the way david played i rate him higher but i see the way bigger upsides on watts.

Zaharkis

We dont often do this (ie acknowledge how much players have come on) but wasnt it great to see Zaharkis go so well on his debut. suspect those of us that watched him over last couple of years and were a bit worried after he didnt go in 07 wondered if we were missing something.

his skills / his pace were terrific and it goes to show players can fine tune these skills. lot of folks had marked him back last yr bc his skills were questionable....just hope he doesnt go well on ANZAC day!

Great thread Snoop. I had him high 40s in my mock (although I had him going in 2007 from memory) I just wasnt sure if he was strong enough to be an inside mid or skilful enough to be outside. One game doesnt make a career but he has started well hasnt he!

I hate bumping old threads, but came across this googling for some photos for our board and felt I had to for the lulz. :thumbsu:
