Have all been suspended by the leadership group for 1 week for breaking team rules and leaving there hotel Saturday night........Well Done boys :thumbsd:

Re: Davis, Cox And Egan!!!!!!

Three Collingwood players have been banned by the AFL club from playing against Carlton on Saturday because of a weekend off-field incident.
The club said Leon Davis, Shannon Cox and Chris Egan had all disregarded a team directive after Saturday night's victory over Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
All players were told to remain in the team hotel after returning from the ground, but the three players disobeyed that instruction, the Magpies said in a statement.
"(They) consequently have been informed this morning that they will not be considered for senior selection vs Carlton next Saturday," Collingwood said.
"This decision was recommended by the player leadership group and endorsed by the club management."
The trio will play with Collingwood's VFL affiliate Williamstown this weekend.

Oh no leon, coxy and eegs

How stupid are these guys!!!!!!! They have been suspended by the club for this round after disobeying team rule(they went out after crows match). With all thats been happening why would they bother. Leon just played really well, coxy is in his first year and eegs only got a game due to an injury. I think all 3 are good players, but do they have a brain. Theres gonna be some changes. Brown will play, dids will play, medhurst will play and as much as i hate to say it davies (hack) may well play. This is not what we need after a great start.

Re: Davis, Cox And Egan!!!!!!

Thursday night selection - now easy.

Very silly move by the three of them, considering it could make it very hard for them to get back into the side.

Re: Davis, Cox And Egan!!!!!!

For Egan thats just really really really stupid Davis probably moreso. At least Cox has his recent good form to make him feel secure.

Egan and especially Davis are already on knife edges far as I can see.

Re: Davis, Cox And Egan!!!!!!

Well I guess that settles the problem of Holland, Medhurst and Lonie coming in

Re: Oh no leon, coxy and eegs

how stupid.
Cox had Wakes spot in the bag.
Leon had his best game all year.
Egan was respectable too.

3 forced selections for team V Carlton

Very dissappointing. This throws a spanner in the selection works!!!!

Very impressed with Dick, as the only other indigenous member of the quartet there was probably a lot of peer pressure on him to follow suit.. well done kiddo

I don't think that would have much to do with it, you're assuming alot of things there. You don't know if they even asked Dick and whether they are actually that close.

Not at all, I was a kid once.. I'm sure you think you have to say that out of some social pressure to be politically correct but I'd put good money on my version

Davis was great vs. Adelaide. We'll be missing him more than anyone, as well as Cox due to the possibility of Presti and Clement missing.

I agree with what you're saying here however I think he'd be just as influenced by his fellow 1st and 2nd year players, that seems to be the way they are grouped as such.

The cynic in me says that Presti and Clement will be right otherwise they wouldn't have dumped Cox. Time will tell I suppose.

To quote Charlie Brown - "BLOCKHEADS!!!"

Very disappointing but good on the player leadership group to recommend this and club management giving the nod. If we didn't have players knocking down the door to play they would have been fined too I reckon.

Didak and Holland to return plus maybe Goldsack a chance seeing Cox will be dropped. Wakes I feel might be going the way of Gasper if the young players are kicking down the door. Shame.

Re: Davis, Cox And Egan!!!!!!

Mark Sensationalism Doran on SEN is going off like a rocket like he did with the Johnson and Tarrant incident. He said he got a call from a 'trainer' from Collingwood called David off the air (sounds like David Buttifant) saying there was no alcohol involved, that they went to a party when they were told to stay in the hotel. Walsh said there was no actual incident where they got into trouble. I think there may have perhaps been a little bit of alcohol involved (the players were probably still allowed to drink at the hotel) but it seems that it was hardly a 2am bender. I think they disobeyed a strict instruction, and the rest of the playing group may have been inconvenienced by their actions.

You Probley wont need them on Sat, But I hope it makes it easier for the Blues.

How stupid are these guys.
Davis played his best game for the year.
Cox was going along quite nicely.
And Egan had just played his first game for the season.
Well done guys.
You have just let your team mates, coaching staff and suporters down.
YOU BLOODY IDIOTS.

I swear some footballers are just meatheads. We have Ray Hall and now these three guys.

"What part of DON'T LEAVE THE HOTEL don't you understand?"

Frustrating stuff.

I'm sorry, but I think this is ridiculous. Night game = back late anyway. Who cares if 3 players want to head out for a couple of hours to celebrate a good win. If it was the 2 Shaws and Thomas would we have dropped all three? Or are we just scared of what the AFL might do to us if we stuff up. What happens if one of our players drops some rubbish on the ground or picks his nose in public? A $5000 fine and a loss of draft picks for the next 20 years. OVERREACTION!

And another thing. Can the club force players to not leave the hotel? There is a big difference between heading out for a couple of quiet beers to getting in a fight over whether it's 2 shots on the black.

I know there's lots of evidence (Cousins, Hall, etc) that says players need to be told when and what to do 24 hours a day, but could we just think about it for a minute, and remember it's a free country! How far does their employment agreement stretch? 24x7x52?? I think not!

That's what mini-bars are for.
