Lukas Rosol looked absolutely devastated when he lost to Tomic. There was a moment there when he was sitting by himself after the match and I thought he was going to break down in tears.

He hasn't won a singles match this year.

And has a really bad calf tatt.
 
Brett Phillips on SEN today said Australian cities will need to now "bid" to host the quarter final tie. He is hoping for grass at Kooyong.

The new tennis centre at Canberra won't be ready in time to host.

I think Brisbane might get it simply due to July and the weather limitations

How hard is it to do a temporary grass court? Easier now than 10 years ago presumably.

Also if we progress and host a Semi Final or Final, what are the chances of re-purposing a football stadium to host it (other countries have done this for these type of matches). Or is RLA pretty much a guaranteed?

Hewitt and Tomic have really become good friends. Tomic really is not close to many other players. I can see in coming years Tomic making himself unavailable for DC which could put stress on the friendship.

I could overlook a spelling mistake, but since you like to include his name in seemingly every sentence, can we get you to check the spelling on Tomic?

Remember back in 1999 (I think) when we played Russia in the semis we played at Suncorp in Brisbane and it played like a cow paddock. Made Wayne Arthurs seem like god that weekend.

I remember kafelnikov kicking up a stink over the court, which was probably fair enough.

And on the aus Davis cup coach talk, I'm pretty sure it is josh eagle. Roche is still part of the group though.

Channel 7 are suggesting Darwin or Cairns are a chance. Anyone know what the grass courts (if any) are like in these places?
 
I think Darwin getting the tie is brilliant for the city.

Would be a nice little holiday going up to Darwin to watch the Davis Cup

So who do you think should play Singles and Doubles?

Kyrgios is obviously going to play singles.
I think Hewitt will only play doubles.
I don't think Groth or Kokk will play all three days.

You would think Hewitt and Kokk playing doubles at wimbledon shows their hand there.

I'd roll with Groth as #2 on day one and if it reached the 5th tie sub the Kokk in for Groth.

I don't think they have much faith in Groth though, Pat certainly didn't, so Kokk will likely play day 1 and back up for the doubles.
 
They've gone Kyrgios and Kokk in singles and Hewitt and Groth in doubles. Hmmm. I think if you played Groth day 1 against Kukushkin it would have been a free hit. With that team, there is more riding on being 2-0 up after day one. I suspect they will change the doubles team regardless but Kokk might have to play all three days if things go a little pear shaped. I would back Kokk in against their #2 in a fifth rubber but if it's third rubber in three days it makes it tougher. I certainly wouldn't want Groth or the current Hewitt subbing in for that one.
