Much more impressed with De Minaur's effort the other day watching this match, he deconstructed Zverev and made him look like a 2nd rate basher to a point where if they had even power/server he would have won 6-0 6-0 6-0.

Seeing Nick struggle so much with him jut highlights how good the kid is at reading the game and out thinking his opponent.

I’m starting to think the same re doubles. We need to think also about who we are playing in doubles (I.e. what type of players) Interesting that Germany were happy to play Struff in the doubles and yet we are more inclined to ‘save’ our singles players.

I’d be happy to swap out De Minaur as I’m not sure how he will match up against Struff but our only other options are Ebden and Millman and I’m not sure they would be any better.
I'm curious to know why you would swap Alex out. For me, it's like continuously matching your class 2yo against seasoned WFA horses. Something has to give, even though it's a gr8 learning experience for them.

Down 2 sets and a break, great time to start watching

I probably wouldn't, like I said the others aren't any better really. It was just if he wasn't fit I suppose after his long match on Friday. Moot point now anyway it would seem.

I dont think we have a lot to complain about, with zverev in this was going to be a tricky tie. I am sure they would of tried many different combos for dubs and ebden/peers must of been the best. Ebden is a pretty solid dubs player.

As i said, disappointed with Nick but this isnt surprising

Really, you actually said you would be happy to swap him.

My reply was to do with a long campaign (yes, that word) for a young player.

Chances are we'll have to play someone like Argentina or Austria in a playoff

on clay? Absolutely. Only months ago, we were 1 victory away from the Final. Just goes to show how quickly fortunes can change.

2 years ago a similar thing happened. 1 doubles + 1 singles win (vs Dan Evans) away from the Final in the SF vs GB. Months later we lose a home tie to the USA (losing Kyrgios to injury didn't help tho).

But hey, Little Lleyton is going to save us because our newspapers keep saying so

The Ghost of Bernie lives.

Disappointing from Nick, I thought he'd win this quite easily but hats off to Zverev who played really well. I like him so I don't feel too bad but disappointing result overall for Australia. No fifth rubber being played is a bit of a shame but I guess it would've been a dead rubber anyway...
