Group A

France
Serbia
Japan

Group B

Croatia
Spain
Russia

Group C

Argentina
Germany
Chile

Group D

Belgium
Australia
Colombia

Group E

Great Britain
Kazahkstan
Netherlands

Group F

USA
Italy
Canada

The 6 group winners and 2 best runner ups qualify for the quarter finals.

Pretty good draw. Don't know if Falla is still kicking around for Colombia but can't think of any other Colombian players. Goffin going like a busted this year and if Nick and AdM are in form they could beat him on hard anyway.

let me re-do that for you

Group A: 1-France, 8-Serbia, 14-Japan
Group B: 2-Croatia, 7-Spain, 17-Russia
Group C: 3-Argentina, 11-Germany, 18-Chile
Group D: 4-Belgium, 9-Australia, 15-Colombia
Group E: 5-Great Britain, 12-Kazahkstan, 16-Netherlands
Group F: 6-USA, 10-Italy, 13-Canada

Groups runners-up will be ranked by ranked by percentage of sets won the games won.

I have to presume that the identity of x2 and y2 will partially depend on who wins group A and B, also that
QF1: x2 cannot be from Group A
QF4: y2 cannot be from Group B

QF1: A1 v x2
QF2: D1 v F1
QF3: E1 v C1
QF4: B1 v y2

SF1: winner QF1 v winner QF2
SF2: winner QF3 v winner QF4

Semi finalists automatically qualify for the next Davis Cup.
Teams ranked 5th to 16th will compete in the next Davis Cup qualifiers.
Teams ranked 17th and 18th are relegated to the Zone Group competition.

bit rough on Spain and Serbia, the two teams to just miss being seeded then ending up grouped with the top 2 seeds

As I predicted (as would common sense), A2 cannot meet A1 in a QF, same goes for B2 and B1.

However my other suspicion was incorrect. I would have thought that the higher-ranked winner of A and B would get the 2nd ranked 2nd-placed team.

ITF Davis Cup Regulations - https://www.daviscup.com/media/299263/299263.pdf

21.6.3 - Nations that qualify for the Quarter-Finals will be drawn and placed as follows:
21.6.3.1 - the winner of round robin group A will be placed on line 1;
21.6.3.2 - the winner of round robin group B will be placed on line 8;
21.6.3.3 - the two best runner-up Nations will be placed on lines 2 and 7, respectively
(if either of those two Nations has competed in round robin groups A or B, they shall be
placed in the opposite section of the Quarter-Finals Draw to the winner of that group)

That took me 2 mins to figure out. And even then, I dont really know. I miss the simple 4 groups of 4, top 2 progress. Once you get into the best runner up crap, it just gets stupid.

Like how GB are seeded.....

Who knows who will be the good teams or the bad ones. It really depends on what players turn up.

well, this starts this week. How exciting. What an end of the season.

Nadal and Nole are turning up. The Swiss did not qualify so Fed has an excuse to not turn up already. Murray is around as well. Despite this, ticket sales have been slow. Nobody is really interested to watch outside their own nation. Who would have guessed it? this will be shown on nine in the wee hours. Only our games though......another shock.

The Aussie team is strong, and we play Belgium and Columbia. Goffin has turned up, so has Darcis. Who cares about the South Americans, they aren't any good. Dont ask me how we qualify. It is stupid, like this tournament.

The one thing I can't work out is the match ups for singles.

Is it 1 v 1 and 2 v 2, or 1 v 2 and 2 v 1.

Then can you nominate whoever you want as #1 or is it just purely based on current ranking.

Davis cup website is s**t and wants me to download the app which would likely be s**t as well and still not answer the question.

Yeh I assume it's just based on ranking. Looks like the 2nd ranked players play eachother first then 1st ranked players
ie. both times Kyrgios (ranked 24ish) played first, then De Minaur (ranked 20ish)
