Which is probably why he should play, to give his country a chance…

So why do Nadal, Roddick, Ancic, Berdych, Blake ect, ect all play and Federer doesn’t? Sure Federer has a busy schedule but so does everyone else and yet they manage to make the time for it.
Exactly. If Lleyts were to skip DC all the Federer lovers here would be having a go! But cos Lord Federer does it its ok!
Too arrogant to represent his country.

Switzerland would be a decent chance if Fed played. He'll win his 2 singles on any surface, Wawrinka is a good player and would win some rubbers and Federer/Allegro is a good enough doubles combination to be competitive and win plenty of matches.

Federer is smart. People remember grand slams not Davis Cups for crying out loud!

Don’t give me that rubbish. So he can’t add a week to his schedule to represent his country? The next Grand Slam is at the end of May, but you’re saying if he plays this week he’s hampering his chances of taking the French Open title?

He wants to PEAK at the grand slams. Perhaps he needs a break. Ever thought of that. If this is part of his break so he can freshen up for the Open then by playing this week it could potentially kill his chances considering the French is a draining surface!

Why are you so confident?

Hewitt on clay..um yep he is ordinary on that surface, belgium are not.
Malisse is good on clay, he's not playing, and Vliegen doesn't mind it. The Rochuses are no good it and neither is Norman. Winner of Hewitt v Vliegen should take the tie

We should be playing Hewitt and Luczak in singles, Gooch and Hanley in doubles

Hewitt has to win his 2 for us to have a chance. No way will we win one of the other singles matches. Guiccone in doubles- dear oh me! Hanley will have to carry that team more than ever. Might as well play Hewitt!

Depended if Hewy would play doubles but with his big serve volley game if he can click on the day, he should be capable enough along with hanley 2 win the rubber

Guccione is an awful doubles player, moves too early, volleys are too hit or miss, they will have Hewitt playing singles and doubles pairing with Hanley.
They should have picked Nathan Healy to play the doubles with Hanley and then only have one of Guccione and Luczak

Agreed on both points! Why they picked Lucak is a joke to be honest!

Hewitt & Luzcak in singles:thumbsu:

Hanley & Perry in doubles:thumbsu:

How Perry continually gets overlooked is beyond me. An absolute awesome doubles player! We are not going to win with Hewitt playing 3 matches and his doubles is average at best!

I have to agree with this, Hewitt playing three games is not going to work when we have another option for the doubles.

they should pick that Klein kid instead of Gooch and Luczak

Klein would get thrashed if he plays. Luczak I would bet my house would kill Klein. Last years Junior Aussie Open winner was Sidorenko... This year Sidorenko plays in the qualifiers to try to get into the main draw and he gets trashed by an American who has been playing on the circuit for a few years. There is a big leap from Juniors to the Pro circuit. Luczak isn't a bad player.

Not 100% sure in fact not really sure at all lol but i think i read in the herald sun when the open was on the Klein bet Luczak in a qualifier or something like that...like i said could definately be wrong but if im right u better start packing your things...

Err... No. Klein got beaten by Robin Vik... 1st round of qualifiers. Luczak was given a wildcard into main draw of the open but was beaten in 5 by a qualifer.

Lucak is a poor mans Hewitt. Nathan Healey should be the other singles player. Perry and Hanley I agree with. Guiccone is rubbish, Lucak is not much better and the less said about any other Aussies the better.

The big difference between Luczak and Klein is that Luczak is 27? Klein is still a junior. I think we are seeing the best of Luczak at the moment and that is that he is a good player but not a top 100 player.

No doubt, but Luczak is suited to the clay! If the Gooch even gets near a clay court the selection panel is a joke!

That implies that Lucak is remotely good. He is rubbish, has no weapons and is very ordinary!

Healey is decent on clay. IMO at least he has some weapons, unlike Lucak! Gooch I agree with, he should be made to rest the entire tie as he is very average!

Suprisngly the Gooch actually had some decent results on clay last year, admitedly only at Challenger level in Sth. America but there were some decent clay courters there like Canas.

I'll put my house on Gooch and Hewitt playing singles on the first day.
