Is there a standout Ruckman in this years draft

Any athletic freak ruckman over 200cm
Is about the same height as Paddy Ryder so I’ll use that as a reference for anyone who thinks he is too small to ruck at AFL level.

I reckon Paddy has longer arms then most people his height (and a good leap)

I wish they listed standing reach for rucks and kpp. It’s a much more important metric than height.

Probably just 17 years old and would most likely still have growth in him

also found this
"Jackson’s interest in football soon followed, playing juniors for both Willetton and Bullcreek-Leeming, before being offered a spot in the AFL Academy. As it stands, the 6’6 (199cm) teenager is a potential No. 1 pick in the 2019 AFL Draft, and only recently made his final decision. "

It’s quite possible he has grown or will grow.

I saw him last champs at Alberton and he dominated that day although sa didn’t really play a genuine ruck. But luke looked a very good all rounder. Will be a big lump as well.

it's a shame Flynn Perez did his ACL in a training incident, i had him going top 10 as a smokey, even Joel Selwood thought he looked good when he trained at Geelong in the pre-season, so might still be a first rounder?, shame i thought he was a stand out for Bendigo along with Brodie Kemp...

L Rocci played state basketball is he a tall or midfielder as I’m sure he plays in The EDFL??? if it’s the same kid.
Loves the contested ball and loves contact and is a tackling machine.

Definitely played State Basketball for Vic Metro at 16s & 18s ..midfielder from Aberfeldie and formerly from Werribee Districts

Hmm injured Vic Country kid who might slide due to injury. That's a Brisbane Lions pick if there ever was one. Especially if our recruiters rate him as a first round prospect, and we currently have two early to mid second round picks.

Love this kid already Mitch Georgiadis (Subi)
Any relation to John Georgiadis who kicked 8 goals on debut for Footscray back in the day? Never played anywhere near as well again and his career was over after 16 or so games.

Might be my memory isn’t great but watching butters this jlt kind reminded me of what I liked about serong last champs.

Ash is a medium sized player for Murray, he is strong in the air, his intercept marking is a highlight, he is one of those players that is rarely beaten, he can also go forward and kick a goal or compete in the midfield, im just a fan of what he has done in big games and possibly i over-rate him a bit from his finals series last year, but i really like him as a utility/medium def

Serong is a player i think has talent, he was in the best 3-4 for Gippsland last season and provides a good target for a small forward, i want to see if he can play more midfield minutes this season, but he was a highlight for a disappointing Vic Country in 2018

i saw him play i think 4 games and 3 he was good and 1 he was average, he has all the tools to be successful, clean hands, uses the ball well, moves well, has good evasion, second efforts, he averaged over 20 poss a game in the champs i believe for an under ager thats pretty good, i saw him tear it up at marvel stadium also, i think he made all australian as an under ager, not bad credentials... i think he is a lock for top 6 imo.

GIANTS Academy members, Liam Delahunty, Matt McGory and 2018 Allies player, Tom Green will also be a part of the NAB AFL Academy for the upcoming season.

GWV V Dand

First Half (GWV 20-48 DAND)- Dandenong dominated the play in the first half looking more like a team that will make finals and GWV looking like a bunch of country lads playing together for the first time, the team cohesion for Dandenong was impressive whereas the opposite can be said of GWV, good contributions coming from Dandenongs Nanscawen, Riordan, Cahill(2 gls), Nyuon(2 gls), H. Young and Toner, for GWV i thought Martin played a good half of footy with Herbert also getting involved, Craig-Peters got a good amount of poss without making a huge impact but credit goes to his efforts as well.

Second Half (GWV 80-86 DAND)- GWV wrestled back control of the game and made a come back mainly from the good work of Lloyd, Craig-Peters, Jorgensen, Martin, Hill and Polkinghorn, Lloyd went forw and took 2 lovely contested marks and kicked 3 crucial goals along with 2 for Jorgensen and the inside mid work of Craig-Peters and the continued running of Jed Hill, for Dandenong in the second half it was more trying to stem GWV momentum and the odd highlight, H. Young, De Konig, Nanscawen, Weightman and Toner were good performers for the winners

GWV got a lot more possession, but Dandenong seemed to have the better players on the park, so even though stats are heavy on GWV they had less quality than Dandenong imo

overall the best performers imo were
1. Jai Nanscawen - Dand - 15 disp 1 goal and plenty of good play and setting team mates up for goal, moves well and played well in all areas of the field
2. Matty Lloyd - GWV - 24 disp 3 goals, was instrumental in the come back, got lucky with some frees, but was strong and courageous
3. Mitch Martin - GWV - 25 dsp 1 goal, put in a decent effort in the first half and was another player that was big in the comeback
4. Cooper Craig-Peters - GWV - 32 disp 1 goal, didnt have a huge impact in the first half but his second half work was much tidier
5. Mitch Riordan - Dand - 12 disp physically tough, had a great first half and was a big reason they won the midfield battle early, low disp big impact a lot of knock-ons and physical work so team mates could benefit, needs more poss numbers
6. Hayden Young - Dand - 17 disp played mostly in the backline but had a good stint up forw being creative in the 3rd
7. Mitch Jorgensen - GWV - 8 disp 2 goals, looks a likely type, moves well and a good mark, i would like to see more poss
8. Jack Toner - Dand - 20 disp 1 goal, exciting half forw
9. Bigoa Nyuon - Dand - 7 disp 2 goals, played ruck and key forw, had an impact in the first half and didnt do much in the second half
10. Jed Hill - GWV - 17 disp, tried hard all day, was also big in the second half but kicked a bunch of behinds instead of goals
11. Ned Cahill - Dand - 10 disp 2 goals, had a really good first half as a small forw then got put into the mid in the 2nd half with disappointing results, i think he is a much better small forw imo

special mentions: Polkinghorn 24 disp, Herbert 28 disp, Rantall 21 disp, Wright 14 disp 2 goals, L.Williams 23 disp, Weightman 11 disp 1 goal

**Clayton Gay(Dand) was the best under-ager

*just a note for myself i think Cahill dropped a few places and Wareham might not be in my top 40 the next time i make 1, Wareham was disappointing.

SAND V CALD

First Half - (SAND 55-4 CALD)- Sandringhams list and game plan is too strong and aggressive for Calder, the standouts in midfield have been Maginness and Byrnes with different styles, Byrnes the more crash and bash and Maginness more running clearance, Bergman and Dean have been very solid up forward and Worrell has been energetic and classy from half back, special mentions to Bowman, Mahoney, Ralphsmith, Hanrahan, O'Leary, Watts and Courtney as for Calder they have collectively struggled against the might of Sandy, their bests being Graham, Brown, Mott and Minton-Connell, but they have lowered their colours so far in the first half. (Butler, McAsey and Newman have over 10 disp each but havnt been clean or made the play so they get a mention but not in the bests so far)

Second Half - (SAND 127-18 CALD)- again Sandringham dominated the half, with a little more competitiveness from Calder, that half Dean, Byrnes, Maginness, Mifsud, Mahoney, Bell, Bowman and Hanrahan were good performers and Calder had some good performances from Ramsay, O'Sullivan and Mott

overall a powerful display by Sandringham and Calder look like they might struggle in 2019

overall the best performers imo were
1. Finn Maginness - Sand - 18 disp 1 goal, looks like a classy mover in the mid, clean disp when not in congestion.
2. Ryan Byrnes - Sand - 22 disp, hard bustling mid, wins clearances and generally tough mid
3. Charlie Dean - Sand - 8 disp 5 goals, was a great target man and looks a natural, increased his draft stocks from that performance
4. Josh Worrell - Sand - 11 disp, great run off of half back, fierce competitor
5. Miles Bergman - Sand - 13 disp, good mark and tough general forw
6. Jack Mahony - Sand - 10 disp 1 goal, bit of a quiet day but still has class and speed
7. Riley Bowman - Sand - 11 disp 3 goals, had a good outting kicking 3 goals and took some good marks

special mentions: Mott 19 disp, Brown 16 disp, Ramsay 19 disp 1gl, Hanrahan 23 disp 1 gl, Ralphsmith 17 disp, Butler 17 disp, Mifsud 12 disp 3 gls, Browning 19 disp, Lewis 18 disp, Newman 24 disp

**Darby Hipwell(Sand) was the best underager

Pretty much agree with all of it, I think the one thing we can take from the game is the Stingers are unlikely to go back to back Premiership winners, I thought in the end they were very lucky to get away with the win . If Jed Hill had his radar working the Rebels win the game. In the end I think Matty Lloyd was the most influential player on the ground, probably expected a bit more from Hayden Young given the wraps he has on him I thought Ed Cahill looked very dangerous whenever the ball was in his vicinity and Nyuon certainly moves well for a tall lad, probably needs to get more involved off the ball though.

MURR V GIPPS

First Half (MURR 42-39 GIPPS)- fairly even contest, a few standouts, for Murray, Ash was a standout in the first half marking everything, going for multiple runs with multiple bounces, he is just a competitive beast, for Gippsland 2 players starred Flanders and Dunkley both played great football, Flanders with his beautiful kicking and Dunkley with his strong marks and long goals, others that played ok in the first half were Hollands, Durham, Kelly, Wilson and Chalcraft for Gipps it was Pepper, J.Smith and Soutar

Second Half (MURR 66-69 GIPPS) tight contest all day, a lot of tackling and contested footy, the standouts for Murr in the second half were Ash, Wilson, Clarke and Quirk, for Gipps it was Pepper with the winning goal, Souter, Dunkley and Flanders, fighting it out in a very windy last quarter which hurt Murrays chances and played into Gippslands favour

overall the best performers imo were
1. Lachlan Ash - Murr - 21 disp, put in a great effort and was huge for Murray, great runs and rarely missed a target, beat everyone in his vicinity
2. Sam Flanders - Gipps - 20 disp, used the ball cleanly and had some crisp passes, put in a big effort to get Gipps over the line
3. Kyle Dunkley - Gipps - 21 disp 3 goals, big strong overager, looks the goods, was up there with Ash and Flanders on impact
4. Harrison Pepper - Gipps - 13 disp 2 goals, provided a target up forw, kicked 2 goals including the match winner
5. Cameron Wilson - Murr - 19 disp 3 goals, a solid captains performance, was a live wire all game
6. Ben Kelly - Murr - 14 disp, impressive big man, looks like he could develop into an AFL type ruckman/kpp, overager
7. Elijah Hollands - Murr - 15 disp 1 goal, marked everything, needs work at kicking for goal, but a likely type for an underager
8. Josh Smith - Gipps - 7 disp 2 goals, target man for Gippsland, big strong figure in the forward line and a great mark and kick for goal
9. Dylan Clarke - Murr - 19 disp, fought all day in the mid and was impressive.

special mentions: Wild 20 disp, Berry 18 disp, B.Smith 16 disp, Sparkes 20 disp, Boyer 16 disp

**Elijah Hollands(Murr) was the best underager

*Will Chandler had a poor game, looked a bit disinterested.
