Point was made about players below 175cm…not taller.

I think it’s going to become a very important conversation for top 10 teams considering using their first round pick on Nick Watson…

But some of the guys under 175cm have been greats.
Watson will be good he knows how to play already with his small size, if he was 185cm he might be clear favourite for pick1

Did you see his game last weekend? The kid is a superstar in the making, I don't think any of the top 10 teams would hesitate.

Yep. Players seemed to struggle to hit targets, Watson nailed his. He is not 'just' a small forward. His field kicking looks very good and he worked hard to cover ground as well.

Wow Walter taking top spot, not surprising though had a good championships.
Harley Reid being a little disappointing maybe from the concussion.
Duursma dropping a fair bit in your rankings aswell that’s interesting.
Love that you have Sanders where he belongs

Enjoy your work Davo.

Caiden Cleary? Had a pretty solid 18’s carnival pretty tough to not even get a mention.

Good to see you have moved Sanders up 👍🏻
Cleary would be in that next group of guys hoping to get drafted but not 100% guaranteed.

The Sanders projections have been up and down over the last 2 years, 2 years ago I had him top 10, then he had a disappointing 2022 imo which dropped him down a bit, I knew he had speed and an ability to win the footy from his junior tassie days, but he really struggled in his 1st year at Sandringham in 2022 to really impact a game, this year he started to show improvement for Sandy and it wasn't until this champs that I finally saw his potential from 2 years ago start to be realised as a top 10 prospect, just Incase anyone was curious as to the rationale.

As for Duursma, he projects as a medium forw at the next level imo, Harley Reid played mostly as a forward which has reduced his impact on games unfortunately, still a great player, but I would choose the Tom Hawkins Clone at pick 1 if it was a pure open draft with no links to clubs.

If Wilson, Philactides, Holt and Freijah are available after pick 40, that’s a steal. Realistically I can’t see any being available after pick 30.

Love your work brother.
Just getting into future drafts now mainly for Fantasy Keeper leagues. Find your work very helpful

Harvey was 177cm
Milne was 176cm

Brent Harvey was 168cm. He could only dream of being 177cm!

As for worrying about using pick 4 on Watson.....do so at your peril. He will do stuff nobody else can do. Nobody. Pure dynamite for his size, trying to lay a finger on him will be hard enough. Can also sit on heads, crumb before players even know where the ball has spilled to. He plays the game on fast forward. Will win matches off his own boot.

Freijah may well go top 12-15
Freijahs goal kicking from a wing floating forward does increase his value, especially some of those clutch marks i50, but I've seen him in too many games go missing on a wing, I see him as a 2nd rounder based on approx 10 or more games, this VC v VM game and an earlier game where he similarly went forw off a wing and kicked 6 show that every now and then he can be a source of goals.

The vision of Colby McKerchers goal against Oakleigh yesterday is pretty amazing

The fend off gave him an unbelievable speed boost like he's popping mushrooms in Mario Kart.

Davo-27

How do you rate the 20-40 bracket in this years draft versus next years draft, after F&S and academy players are taken out?

Looking from a Collingwood perspective we may trade out of this year currently 18 and 28, possibly 24ish and 34ish after bids.

Next years draft looks deeper but with less projected elite players than this years draft IMO.

Thanks,

CC

Hes a nice size and moves well. He's certainly a first rounder. Transferable attributes thats for sure.
Yeah at his size, decent pace and agility, good overhead and a booming kick can't see him making it through to the 2nd round. I see a bit of Isaac Smith in Joel and wouldn't surprise me if he turns out as good.

Davo. Who is there with that blend of ruggedness and leg speed, a dual sided mid, to go around Pick7 to P18.?
