Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

Dawes has said in 3 separate interviews that he wants to stay at the Pies, that hasn't even considered any offers from other clubs and that he was waiting for Daisy's deal to be done. What more can you ask him to say? It's not like he's said he'll consider his options at the end of the year, or anything like that. He's consistently said that he wants to re-sign with the Pies.

Like Daisy was Saying

Exactly. The pattern has been, when players have said they're putting off contract negotiations or will make a decision at the end of the season, they almost invariably have ended up at new clubs. When they've said that they want to re-sign with their existing clubs, they have done so. I would take Chris Dawes at his word in this situation.

He is reading law & we all know that lawyers never lie. So he must be staying.
Seriously though, I do agree that he will sign on after the season is over. He is a required player & he wants to stay, therefore deal will be done (assuming Daisy left some for him).

Might be Thinking IF he has a Big Finals Series he could get more money in his Contract;)

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

Whilst I am enjoying listening today to the filth supporters blaming the umpires and everyone else and them talking up wanting to be like us in 2007
& 2008
then winning the Flag

It is good they only need one hand to hold the telephone

But now they are stating Dawes 99% done.

As If we would trade with the Filth, GWS can take him and we get compensated if he does not review and expect the delay is based on if BJ or Leon retire but

Can we just sign Dawesy & Reid and get on with it all

Where did you hear that?

Dawesy has pretty much said he is Staying

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

His brother, who played WAFL, is a physio is returning to Vic, got a job assisting Buttifant at the club. I doubt he will be moving given the club is also involved with assisting in his Golf Business with a major franchise, that is a Collingwood sponsor.

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

Lloyd was suggesting on SEN this morning that the Blues should throw the kitchen sink at Dawes. He was mentioning figures like $500 or $600k a year!!

That seems ludicrous money!

Unless we wanted to shift him which I doubt I cannot see how the Filth could get him.

GWS would grab him if he remained uncontracted and we would get compensated.

But yes the SEN filth boys last night had him leaving under every circumstance be it Melbourne because of Neeld, the Filth due to Rowdy, now Watters is being touted at St Kilda (forget that he is the backline coach) he will be going to the Aints.

Lets just get him and Reid signed up

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

Yeh they were just asking Jamison about him on fox sports news.

Keep ur filthy cheating hands of our Dawesy! How about u learn to draft and develop some decent KPF's yourself and stop drafting midfielders.

I'm pretty certain my mum would burn down Visy park if he left, he's her favourite and has a heap of pics of him on our fridge. I'd also be worried about the fridge. I need a fridge Chris, do not leave lol.

Not in a million years will Carlton get a good player from us after the last couple of years trading periods.

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

Completely hypothetical, if letting go of Dawes somehow got us Reid from the swans through some kind of deal, would you let him go? I was a big fan of his but feel like he needs to improve on his marking. Main thing for me is there seems to be a few young quality forwards going around at the moment.

Re: Dawes - Contract Status?

they are probably 4 KP players short of a premiership.

Dont rate Waite, Jamison, and Henderson?

We are a CHF short with some talented kids we picked up in the draft in the wings.

Problem is our window opens next year, and those kids wont be ready yet.

their 2nd & 3rd tier onballers (including half backs & small forwards) are largely aging along with judd, and hence running out of time.

We actually feilded a younger (and less experienced) side than the Eagles last week.

Our 'second' onballer behind Judd is Marc Murphy and he isnt 'aging' at 24. Gibbs is 23, Robinson is 22, Ellard is 22, Lucas is 20, Curnow is 21 and our tagger in Joseph is 22. For Rucks, Kruezer is 22, Warnock is 24 and Hampson 23.

In relation to half backs, we have Laidler (22), Yarran (20), Touhy (22), Armfield (24), Russell (24) and Duigan the mature aged recruit the oldest at 27.

In fact our whole backline was ridiculously young and inexperienced this year.

For small forwards we have Betts (24), Garlett (22) and Walker (aged 25). Not exactly long in the tooth.

Our oldest players are:

Scotland: 30
Waite: 28
Judd: 28
Ohailpin: 28
Thornton: 27
Carrazzo: 27
Simpson: 27

Thornton, Ohailpin and Waite have replacements in the wings with any three of Watson, Mitchell, Casboult, and MaCarthy; Kane Lucas and Zac Touhy are being groomed for Scotlands and Simpsons role, and Joseph or Robinson will become our number one stopper after Carrazzo retires.

Judd is irreplaceable.

We would definately be all over a young but developed tall player to play as a big bodied forward that can contest and clunk a solid pack mark. Would trade aggressively to get one.

Ratten (and Swan) have said as much.

So... realisitically if Dawes was on the market, whats he worth to you guys?
