Dawes was pretty green to footy even when fit and he has now basically missed a year. He'll take heaps of time to get on the park.
I suppose he has some similarities to Hawkins, in that they are big forwards.
Hopefully Dawes will be at least half as good, but let's give the kid plenty of time and avoid silly comparrisons!

Different playing styles hawkins is your typical leading ff more sav rocca / Lloyd type his good games will kick u 8 , Hawkins has more aggression in his game more of a hall / brown type will kick u 4 but also intimidate the opposition through aggression which will create goals btw i am not saying the 2 will be as good as those named just saying who there style of play resembles.
Only seen highlights of dawes and read comments on him though i have seen hawkins a few times now this imo is how i see them developing although dawes atm needs to just get his body right and get a kick at willy.

Dawes would be more of a CHF though wouldn't he? Hawkins is best playing out of the square ala Plugger, whereas Dawes, who can play like that, is more Barry Hall, albeit from the minimal stuff I've seen/heard(hearsay).

guys get your facts right, Martin Clark had a bad game on purpose to make the match more dramatic
I think Lf50 that if we get dudded again with a Billy type, then we might as well pack it all in. However, when I and other suggest other players in reference like Hawkins, J Brown and Hall, its more in respect to the types of players, not ability. Let's see Dawes play first.

Dawes was one of the most feared players in the TAC.He hits those packs very hard,and when the kid was on he is a beautiful kick and great mark.This kid when fit will shake the foundations of the afl.Forget Hawkins wait till this kid takes his place in the magpie forward line.Have seen him play in in the local leagues before he did his knee and he was blistering.
Can't wait,till dawes,reid,brown are regualr players in the magpie line up.
If he wasn't injured he would have gone top 5 in the superdraft,so he is highly regarded,another player to watch out for is gumbelton when he debuts,another beauty.

Seeing how Clarke is going to be the next Buckley, I thought the time was right to compare him to Bucks' son! I heard he is going to be sensational, even better than Clarke, and I'm jumping out of my skin to see him in 2025!

I think there is a bit of an un known factor with Dawes because he played so few under 18s games as he was committed to school footy. when he did play tac last year he was named in the best in pretty much eveyr game and according to the tac website stats he took a stack of contested marks. I saw the under 18s game in which hawkins dominated and he looked very good.
having said the comparisons with hawkins are crazy. Baring injury hawkins is going to be a superstar we dont know how good dawes will be.

They both played in the same school league, with Dawes being just as big and probably more intimidating, but Hawkins was a cut above.
The comparison is actually a pretty good one.
The game I saw of Dawes, he was a bit of a sniper, taking out a couple of opposition players, but he had absolutely no impact on the game, but I believe this was a once off, and even though he didn't play well, it was still obvious he was a good player.
