Anyone else chasing Dawes.. He is only worth what the competition dictate, and we know that Collingwood want to move him on.

Dawes good be a great pickup with our mid 50 pick!

Could go down as the Dees best draft with Viney, Hogan, Toumpas, Wines and Dawes!! WOW..

Dawes is not worth any first or second round pick. He is on the outer at the club and has been replaced by a 30yo, so it says a lot about how highly Collingwood rate him. The club would have to be ******* stupid to pay overs for him.

Go back and watch the 2010 Grand Finals/s closely. Look carefylly at the off the ball Dawes does. He's a deep thinker and took his poor performance in the 2011 decider to heart. The mail from inside the tent is that Buckley has a different management style from his predecessor - not all like it.

The bloke can play - if you get him he'll do a good job for you for a long time.

Apparently the doggies offered their second rounder for Dawes @ 27, however they have now received 21 as part of the Lake deal. Not sure if they are going to offer up pick 21, but if they do and we want Dawes we'll have to give up pick 20 should we obtain it as part of the GWS MD trade for 3+13.

Don't forget we might be coming into some compo for the loss of Rivers and Moloney (probably after second round pick 26)

21 for dawes is overs. he's worth high twenties early thirties.

I don't really see why there's such angst about getting Dawes. He's only 24 and is clearly a better player than what he showed this year. He's not worth pick 13 on his own but a pick in the 20s could end up being a steal for the dees.

That's what Fremantle thought about Jack Anthony.

Don't do it Melbourne. Don't do it. Develop your own players, you aren't close to challenging yet so don't need to panic over positions. Take the pick, invest in your own players. At worst you can grab a mature age recruit from a lower league. I'm sure just about anyone can replicate Dawes' 13 possies and 0.7 goals per game of 2012. Even a not yet ready Jack Watts would surely provide a better return, and if it worked out would be a much more significant step on the road north than getting a stop gap Chris Dawes.

Cant see Melbourne paying 13 or anything higher for Dawes. I agree the club would be interested (as they have said) but not for that price. 21 probably isnt a bad move, I think the guy can play and you never know what your going to get with that pick anyway.

Anyhoo, not sure Collingwood are going to trade for that, they would probably want something higher. Especially if they are going to lose Wellingham as well, lets not forget they are in premiership mode so not sure how much pick 18 (say for Wellingham from us) and pick 21 (say for Dawes) will help them anyhoo.

Have heard reports he would be mid - late 40's at best.He tested very well at draft camp though.

Not saying he cant play. Saying he's not worth anywhere near a first round pick. (3,4 or 13)

Funnily enough you're talking about the bloke that forced Jack Anthony out of the team. Dawes is just a better player than Anthony. There's a reason nobody had any interest in Anthony. He was an undersized full-forward with very little ability to play anywhere else.

Having secured the Hulk, is there any chance we overlook Dawes for Mitch Brown to play forward from West Coast? Can play both ends and is on the move!
