She wasnt a princess, gave me gnorrea..

was joke about BPs daughter btw haha

We know it was a joke mate... there's no way she would sleep with you! ;)

Any news on Dawes today? Seems to be pretty quiet.

Agree that if we give up pick 20 for Dawes that Collingwood will be the real winners.

Like PureFooty says he was dropped late in the season, he has already being replaced by Lynch + we would be doing Collingwood a favour by taking his contract.

We should play hard ball. If we can find a 2nd pick or a 3rd and a player like Martin.

I get the feeling that until FA is sorted now the trade period will be fairly quiet. The Saints are waiting on the Goddard pick, we're waiting on Riv/Moloney, Port are waiting on the ~3 picks they'll get...

Apparently collingwood is playing hardball and negotiations aren't getting anywhere. How ****ing stupid are they? Pick 20 is more than enough for Dawes, take the money and run.

Of course they can play hard ball - the bloke is contracted. We either come up with something decent or they keep him. There is no danger of losing him for nothing.

20 is very decent. If they keep him he'll most likely play in the seconds and eat at their salary cap.

Possibly, but Collingwood will want to call our bluff right up to the end of next week to see if we get desperate and put up more than just Pick 20.

Suppose, I think we're pretty good at these talks in current state. We did well not to show our hand when going for Viney and pulled that off. The hand was so close to the chest that even Hogan didn't think we were interested in him.

I don't think we kept our cards close with Viney - I get the feeling there was some sort of agreement re: trades for Martin and Hogan before the selection process that allowed us to take him in the second round. They both knew we would take him regardless no matter what we said.

But that's beside the point I guess. Collingwood have the upper hand for the moment, but it will depend on who blinks first. I have no doubt we want Dawes BADLY but will try and hold on for as long as possible so it only goes for our #20 pick.

Agree with that. Fair enough too, they wont let him walk without trying to squeeze the most from us. Having said that, I'd be happy if we told them pick 20 is our offer (which is about right imo) and if you don't like it go get a worse pick from the dogs or keep him.

I'd be quite happy for the club to straight up say "Pick 20 take it or leave it." Then begin to contact other options such as Gumbleton, Pederson etc. Why waste time discussing that kind of thing with a bunch of people trying to bully us into giving up more than they deserve.

Exactly. And its hardly a paragon of footballing ability: Its Dawes!

We should be playing hard ball. If we don't get Dawes, Pederson is another tall option whom we are chasing and he has more versatility than Dawes (can play forward, back, ruck).

Collingwood will be happy to take pick 20, they are simply trying to squeeze something else out of us. They don't need Dawes that badly. They have recruited Lynch to play the forward/ruck role for the next couple of years, while in the meantime they can blood some of their young KPP's. If they get pick 20 off us, they'll go into the draft armed with three late first round picks (17, 18, 20) and they'll have freed up a bit of room in the salary cap which is a great result for them.

COLLINGWOOD is refusing to give Chris Dawes an easy exit to Melbourne, suggesting the Demons’ pick No.20 may not be enough in return.

MAY NOT be enough?! What the **** do they want; a cruise ship, a bag of money and a handshake? ffs. lol

They want a new bridge to replace the one they're burning.

I'd say the general consensus in the footy world is that pick 20 is easily a fair trade for Dawes. If the Pies want to play hard-ball then fine. We look elsewhere for a tall and consider throwing some cash at Clinton Young to boot. The Pies obviously aren't too keen on him or they'd be making more cap space asap.
