Listen guys heres were its at.GWS are willing to ontrade their first 4 picks excluding pick 1.Which may be pickls 2,3, 13 and ??.The thing is for DAWES they are only offering pick 13 to get tippett they will offer picks 2,3 .Do you think adelaide won't accept that.If tippett refuses to go they up the offer on Dawes which means they will offer FOR dawes could be pick 2,or 3. Ridiculous but its a sellers market you guys and GWS want dawes badly. Now if GWS offer us picks 2, or 3 or even 13 it trumps Melbournes deal and collingwood would push DAWES to go to GWS or Melbourne will have to offer pick 4 plus ? otherwise dawes stays at collingwood.

Now pick 20 means zilch ! Gws have now driven his price up and we will not go backwards

If Collingwood are even coming close to asking for pick 4 I'd be seriously concerned about the sanity of your coaching/admin.

Although I guess losing a player to Melbourne doesn't look good... Big Ed wouldn't be keen on that.

Its crap and won't happen. Its more in reference to the pest above who's now turned his sights on your board.

For instance.

Listen guys don't get up in all these picks with untried players.
Collingwood must make a strong stand with dawes.Remember if we look at all the draft picks NONE at this point are proven or better than dawes.

Dawes whether you like him or not is a premiership key position player with 2 years left on his contract with Collingwood. We trade him if it suits us on our terms or he stays a pie.
Melbourne are desperate for another big bodied key position player so pick 20 alone is not enough.

If melbourne think they hacve these great picks then let them use them on a kpp throught the draft. They got J hogan who may be great one dy andf they traded 2 top picks for him .Pick 3 and 13.If that is the case we are shopping around aproven kpp experienced player so for me what would be fair is Chris DAWES for their pick 4 otherwise no deal. They can get Pederson then and get another kp player with pick 4 that will take 4 years to come on.

Dawes is ready to go so pick 4 is fair otherwise NO DEAL.

We are in the box seat.Melbourne are desperate for DAWES so pick 4 or go and finad yourselves another kpp with good experience,Go on!

Pies keep dawes

You honestly think that GWS are going to offer pick two or three on Tippett, fail and then say "Well I guess we didn't get our man, only thing we can do now is overpay for Dawes." Seriously we're not that desperate for Dawes if Collingwood pushed us to pay that far over for him we'd tell them to go **** themselves and go for a cheaper and better value option.

Thing to remember about adwes is that he is not as bad as many think.
Whoever gets him the team will get at least 7 good years of service.Don't look at dawes last 2 years cos he has been recovering from injuries last year and this year he was asked to do a role he has not been used to,with fair results.

He is a big bodied kp forward.I know Neeld is very attracked to a three tall forwrd structure taht is why the dees are after dawes and pederson and you have the linch pin in clarke who isvery good.Add in the other two and the dees have a formidable big bodied forward structure that could do a lot of damage.

That's why Neeld is hell bent on getting him next to Tippett he is the best forward option up for trade.

But the problem the dees face is that dawes is a contracted player, and you may have to pay over the odds to him.But there are not many kpp around.

Thought this would be quite interesting.

You just don't get it. For starters, Dawes' manager has ruled out moving interstate, hence rejecting Brisbane's offer. Apparently his girlfriend has a successful business in Melbourne. Secondly, Collingwood want Dawes to leave, and even Eddie is talking about him as an ex-Collingwood player.

Geoff Walsh is just trying to keep nuffy Collingwood supporters like yourself happy, by appearing to play hardball. There is nothing more certain that Dawes will be traded to Melbourne, and the best you can hope for is pick 20 and an unwanted player (Petterd).

.
It's not interesting at all.

Football is a team game, and a player's value is based on what he contributes to the collective unit. Jack Riewoldt won the Coleman in a team that finished 12th. Stats mean jack.

You are one of those supporters that are fixated with draft picks. Pick 20 is hit or miss, so I'd rather use it on a player that will help the structure of our side next year, regardless of his stats

Draft picks are currency. Do you understand the theory behind currency?

GAH. So we're trading pick 20 for Kosi

But the value of that currency is dependent on where a club is at. Collingwood can afford to put 4 years of development into a pick 20 kid, whereas the value of Dawes on and off the field is immediate, and our football department see that value.

BS summed it up nicely for me...

How do you know where it's at?...So Tippet can refuse to go to GWS but Dawes has no choice? is that because your a Collingwood supporter and that is what you would like to think?

Take your dribble elsewhere, it looks as if the Collingwood fans are sick or hearing it aswell!

Kosi is thirty, those years you selected were the veritable prime of a key forward. Dawes is only just hitting that age now and his years were that of a developing kpf.

Not sure if troll, collingwood supporter or both?

If GWS wwant to give 13 then so be it. Picking up Dawes is not the be all and end all.

(Not that this would actually happen as he's not leaving Vic)

You should look at some of my older posts on Dawes. I watched probably 75% of collingwoods games this year. The way in which Chris Dawes was treated as a player was disgusting. A guy who isn't gifted in agility as such, is made to play as a 2nd ruck, whilst also having a severe hand injury and further a knee injury. I blame Dawes poor form based on injury and Nathan Buckley's disrespect to Dawes. Your comment about 'structural benefit' is completely flawed. His been played in the wrong position, no bloody wonder he didn't provide them the greatest structural benefit . It's my whole bloody point of the argument. I'm confident he'll improve us structurally because he'll be played in the right position (CHF) as opposed to the 2nd ruck role at Collingwood.
It would seem we both watch a lot of Collingwood games.
The issue is that Dawes would be playing around 70% CHF, around 10% bench time and less than 20% in the ruck. So really he is only being played out of position for a small portion of the game. While Dawes lack of goals contributed this season as a forward in a top 4 side is a worry, of greater concern is his inability to take contested marks or even really influence a contest. I don't agree that he is providing the opportunities for the players around him that would make him valuable from a structural perspective. While Cloke had a poor season by his lofty standards, this could amongst a number of other things, be partly atributed to Collingwood not having a viable tall alternative up forward to give the forward line structure.

Dropping an uncontested mark against North in round 22 was the final straw for Buckley (clearly shown on the TV coverage)and resulted in them looking for direct replacement.

LOL @ Coll fans trying to make us think we'd want to trade pick 4 for a younger Kosi. At least Kosi could take a contested mark above his shoulders. I barely want Dawes for 20 alone, if they want 4 they can G&GF. I already feel so dirty about getting ripped off by the filth and giving up pick 20 to them.

Right, because the club with the best stock of young KPFs (Falou) in the league would even considered trading for Chris Dawes. :/

Pull your head out of your ass and face facts that pick 20 is the best offer available.

So just reading through this thread the opinion seems to be that Stefan Martin is the better player than Chris Dawes..

So I have just one question.. if you are willing to pay Dawes $500,000..

What the hell is Martin on? o_O

The Herald Sun understands the Collingwood key forward will almost double his pay at any new club in an enormous sweetener to being squeezed out by arriving West Coast Eagle Quentin Lynch.
Industry sources yesterday confirmed Melbourne, Dawes' club of choice, is prepared to pay him in the region of $500,000 a season.
