Coming out next week. Anyone seen the trailers on the internet?

It looks like a killer scream fest... it seems that the zombie movies have been making a small comeback. Lately we have seen Resident Evil, 28 Days Later and Resident Evil 2 is coming out later this year I believe.

Give me your pre-release thoughts... worth seeing on the big screen or not?

You want blood, good and effects it will be worth a look. But if you want the additional social commentary and satire, go back the original.

Sadly, I'm yet to see a "remake/re-imagining" that has been good as it's original. This one doesn't look to break that trend.

Looking forward to it very much.
I love those kinds of movies, but the last horror I saw (the Rob Zombie one) was way below par.
Hope this one is better.

Maddox gave it the big write up a few months ago. I've been waiting ever since. Here it is if anyone wants to take a look...(describes some scenes, but not really a spoiler).

Here I was sitting in the cinema to watch 'Twisted'. The trailer shows up, so I probably should have known it was going to be for a thriller/horror. For some bizarre reason, I thought it was a trailer for Garfield. I dunno, it just showed two parents in bed and then the door creaks open, and you expect the camera to pan down and show Garfield portrayed as the 'bad guy'
(yes I know this sounds like i'm on some serious drugs) but this was seriously the type of crap I was expecting.

But oh no. Some freaky little zombie girl has to come on the screen and scare the living sh*t out of not only me, but my sister, and the entire cinema. I kid you not. People SCREAMED. At a TRAILER.

So of course I was tempted so went and downloaded it.

Let me tell you, I was expecting some seriously scary sh*t but ended up p*ssing myself laughing after having watched the first 20 minutes. Scary girl my ass. Compeltely cliché. Didn't watch anything after that, but must admit I will see it at the movies if not just to get out and do something, more so just to give it another chance (which hopefully the big screen will be VERY generous).

Website's pretty good so check it out :)

I'm not ashamed to admit that the original 1978 Dawn is my favourite movie of all time.

However, with an open mind I went to watch an advanced screening of the Dawn remake in Perth last night....and it ****ing rocked!

It wasn't scary at all....more action and suspense than the original, however thankfully they retained the zombie headshots that made the original so good. Acting was average, the characters, well to be honest you don't even know their names, but it doesn't matter - this is one fast paced, zombie-lover's dream.

I'll be going to see this another couple of times....highly recommended. Just make sure you don't leave during the credits - half the cinema emptied last night when the credits started, but about 10-15 seconds into the credits, you get a nasty little epilogue showing what happened to those characters who managed to escape the mall.

The remake is actually pretty decent. The effects are good and there are some tense scenes in it. The original one is better, though, if only because of the zombies stumbling on the ice rink with the cheesy music in the background (not to mention the social commentary, etc.)

I actually liked this movie. It has a simliar storyline, but it's more action-orientated - I'm a sucker for zombie movies.

It has a great opening sequence, which is the best part of the movie.

It doesn't even touch Romero's masterpiece though.

I'm looking forward to doing a comparison myself. I love the trilogy. The zombies appear to have alot more pace about them in this one. I suppose the big trouble with shuffling undead types is that they're generally pretty easy to run away from.

When is this coming out? I must know!

But as far as zombies go, you can't go past classic Italian 70's films. Outside of that era, a personal favourite of mine is Dellamorte Dellamore, starring Rupert Everett before he became Madonna's bumchum.

Me too....that's partly why I've been so excited about the remake coming out because:

a) It will mean a lot of people will disover the original trilogy for the first time; and

b) Its commercial success in the States may make it easier for Romero to get some finance to make the fourth Dead movie.

Have you seen the trailer for 'Day of the Dead: Contagium'? A so-called prequel to Day of the Dead....looks like an absoloute travesty.

The official website is here

I love the original but I thought the new one was pretty damn good. Having the zombies running rather than shambling was a neat touch. I agree with everyone that nothing touches the original but this was one of the better remakes I've seen.

My sentiments exactly. Although, I'm now just as partial to this current rendering as the original. I d'loaded the latest one the other night and have watched it 5 times (I've seen the original more times than I can remember). I'm assuming its a great re-make because Richard Rubinstein has produced this one also.

GO ZOMBIES!!!
