For those that boo Welcome to Australia, why not also boo the Lord’s Prayer? I mean Australia isn’t strictly a Catholic/Christian country. Since when is it a requirement either?

Still people honour and stand in silence that out of respect and solidarity. RESPECT.

Can’t believe in this day and age, values are out the window.

Because it wouldn't get a reaction and I bet most people here would probably describe it as freedom of speech.

In Parliament atheists don't take their seats until the Lord's Prayer has been recited, Hanson and her slugs could do the same when the Welcome to Country is performed instead they pointedly turn their backs at the chair.

The leadership of the military need to remember that the vast majority of veterans now are people who chose to fight hideously unpopular wars that achieved nothing for our country. They wouldn't want to look like they're stealing valour from previous generations.

They weren't only hideously unpopular and didn't achieve anything, but in some cases our soldiers fought in illegal wars. In the case of Vietnam and Iraq specifically. It may just be me being overly cynical, but that truth seems to get lost on ANZAC Day in particular.

I don't blame the individual personnel for that ofc, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

Now Well done Angus has come out saying they're over done.
Conservatives are just awful people.
That was an awful speech. Should have just said no matter what you think, the booing was inappropriate but from the radio highlights, he said it was wrong then spent a lot of time justifying it.

This is where we are as a country. One side of politics is actively saying black Australians need to be silenced.

It's a shameful era.

Not all. Not by a long shot.

For example the former leader of the National Party, Deputy PM and member of the seat of Farrer, Tim Fischer was an honourable man who not only played the pivotal role in advocating for and introducing gun control in Australia after the Port Arthur tragedy but went on to volunteer for a wide range of rural and community services long after he left politics, especially in the area of mental health and preventing suicide.

Well they've collectively made Australia a worse place and not managed to influence their colleagues.
So - yeah.

Exactly....Why are people so angry?
They don't need a reason. Racism is based on hatred, ignorance and fear. The WTC tradition and the fact it is welcomed by most is another thing that threatens them.

John Schumman, probably best known for his Vietnam War protest anthem, 'I was only 19' sums things up well.

Whilst on one hand there is a diverse crowd of people attending the services form all backgrounds and opinions, it would also be true to say a majority of the crowd, being ex military, will tend conservative, and even far right.

There seems to be some co-ordination with the booing to those linked to the NSN and “March for Australia” groups, just like last year. It was being publicised on social media of those various groups.
Those misanthropes at Advance have their fingerprints all over it.

I'd also say that apart from shafting Whitlam, Malcolm Fraser turend out to be a very decent, impressive human being.

Morrison and Albo aside a signed copy of Dangerous Allies completed my set of books signed by PM's in my lifetime, the signed first of the Truth of the Matter being among my prized possessions.

Yeah.

I know this is a football website so things get tribal, but judging someone as a decent human being or not based on what team they play for is just rubbish.

Except for Pauline Hanson's and Clive Palmer's mobs of course - you sign up to them knowing they have zero redeeming features whatsoever.

Just gutless really.

Geez back in the say a proper journo would be direct. "Why don't you condemn it strongly, is the vote of racists important to you?"

I agree with all the criticisms of his remarks, but who's surprised that Taylor said what he said? The dog whistlers are the voters he's targeting to win back from PHON after all. Even if it is unlikely to be enough to win back Govt, as they've been on the same path since they knifed Turnbull. If not going back to Howard.

Not surprised and that's the sad thing.

He knows they've lost the centre, either to Labor or Teals, so has resorted to dog whistling. The same as why they've preferenced ON in the upcoming by election.
