Yikes !

Re: Simpson back operation

Had a heart attack, read the AFL subtitle from the main page before coming here and it says he is out for the season. Clicking on it adds the 'pre'.

Re: Simpson back operation

wonder if the injury is due to that quick growth spurt or he did it training?
A real shame as I was looking so forward to seeing him play but he's young and may as well get it right now than have him constantly breaking down at latter stages.

Big guy like that not being able to run for 2 months will get very unfit quickly you'd presume so could be a while before he's ready to crack into the seniors

Re: Simpson back operation

Bad news. I was hoping Simpson would start the season in the AFL side, with Stephenson starting to get a few games after the first two months and the two then competing for the ruck spot as we approach finals. With Stephenson now starting the year in the seniors, it's reasonable to query how much of a go Simpson will get this year, considering his interrupted preseason.

Re: Simpson back operation

I hate to say this but the Tomahawk could be looking at another year where he is called on to play second ruck.

PS.The next big news to come out of the Cattery will be Cats to activate the Garry Ablett pick this year.
I think it may have happened anyway but this maybe the straw that breaks the Camels back.
Simpson may never make it, Stephenson is a stop gap and West and Vardy 2nd ruck only.
Time to do some serious horse trading.

That makes selection easier.

I'd rather West kept rucking anyway, no offense to Dawson.

Hope he gets better.

@#%@#%!

Had high hopes for him this year, but not the end by any means. Set back clearly yes but it should be manageable.

Nothing to suggest he might not be available for some chop out work at seasons end....

Hope he bounces back well.. Best wishes for speedy return Daws....

Go Catters....

And how good does Wellsy look right now..... not that he ever really looks bad..... cough... Tenance.. cough.....:p

Thank goodness we took Orren, he'll be lead rucking the early part of the season at least. Long term it's not necessarily a lot to be scared about, Daws is a very tall lad and those guys have challenges with their bodies when they are young, I think he'll still be good long term, but it's unfortunate for him in the short term as it gives Orren a real chance to cement the ruck spot before he comes back.

Short term I think we'll be quite fine with Orren and West, what it does do though if Vardy isn't available early either, is ruin the ruck rotation/general soreness plan that the coaches probably had, so Orren and West will have to stay fit to handle it week in week out. They better, because any more injuries and they'll probably consider putting you know who in the ruck, and he darn well needs to stay in the forward line.

Not good news at all I had a similar injury and doctor said that I would never be the same again playing sport, Leppa had to retire from Brisbane same injury hope it's not a bad one, otherwise he could be in a little bit of trouble.

Re: Simpson back operation

exactly this. wells strikes again.

While your there Big F what are you going to do with your contracted players list, may be just default the 2011 to 2012 when you get a chance.

Be a shame to let it slip now it's pretty good.:thumbsu:

Re: Simpson back operation

Disappointing. Hope all is well now and he (and Vardy) can crank things up for round 6 or 7 start.

Orren is now the big white hope (literally). Wish him all the best.

Westy now a very important player.

The VFL squad will need to find a couple of big men too.

Go Cats

Same injury happened to my dog a few years back - couldn't chase a ball or lay a tackle for at least 6 months.

Who does your dog tackle - the postie ??? Gas man ???

Is your dog back playing it's favourite position now [huddle in the corner licking it's own private parts] ?

Is the report accurate - removal of a disc? If so will be some major rehab work to restore his mobility considering his size. Hope it works out for the big guy.
