With (hopefully) a full preseason ahead of 2014, he could end up as one of the top 3 rucks in the comp. Massive today both in the ruck and with his contested marking around the ground. Easily our 2nd best player after Selwood today.

Very, very good game from Homer. I thought he worked extremely hard, even in situations that did not suit a big lumbering ruckman. I recall his gut running to get inside 50 to set up Selwood's first and just before half time he forced a contest against three Adelaide guys. He couldn't have won it but he held them up long enough to be saved by the siren.

Did well again. I can't wait to see him with a full and uninterrupted pre season under his belt. I just love his effort. He really busts a gut.

Was fantastic, I gave him votes.
Continued to ruck well all game and did something I hadn't seen from him before, provide link up through the middle and become a marking threat.
REALLY REALLY good signs for the future if we can keep him fit...
Could become a top 2/3 ruckman with some luck.
I have to laugh at how we all saw our ruck situation in the first 2 months or so of the year to how we all see it now....

I forgot to mention that Simpson is just starting to give us something we haven't seen since Ottens and Mumford left: a bit of crash and bash from the ruckman! West ain't up to it, we've hardly sighted Vardy, and Blitz goes in hard but hasn't got the frame for the bullocking work yet. Simpson is a bloody monster, and has a big presence around the contest.

He is just so strong... just pushed Jacobs (who is a freakin big unit himself) out of his way. Needs to work on his tap placements a little, but he has all the tools.

This. Once he learns to palm the footy down OUR players' throats instead of folk like Pretty-Boy Sloane we'll have our centre-square mojo back.

Very good today, I gave him votes too; so much to like about his game; particularly the fact that he was still running around in the last quarter.

Gotta admit I've had my doubts at times; more about his durability than his ability, and really, the jury is still out, but the signs are really promising.

He was good all day, but there were two or three hit-outs in particular which he executed superbly, two got us out of a tight spot at important junctures early in the game.

Those effective hit-outs from the clearances help teams gain an extra edge, and it's something Geelong have been deprived of at times over the past few years.

He's no mug around the ground either, and he clunked a couple of nice marks too.

Making a very strong case as our #1 ruckman heading into the finals.

An unlikely choice at the start of the year. He may lack West's ability to chip in as a forward, but perhaps that a good thing. Too many 'jack of all trades' in one side may be harmful.

Getting better every week and his tank will also be developing - not to mention a little more confidence...

Great linking up around the ground but also his awareness to get back to the goal line for shots on goal and to make a contest even if it spills to the deck is great.

Once its on the deck, he still goes for it. Love his attack on it. Having seen the Pill in the rooms talking to him, you can tell he is listening...

Go Catters

The Adelaide players were playing to his taps in the second half so not entirely his fault in fact a testament to his dominance.

33% to advantage is still above average. Im happy enough with his tap work just think he needs more time to synchronize with the midfeild unit.

Probably taking a bit for them to get use to having silver service after structuring up to lose the hitouts for the last 18 months too.

The team mates love him, I love him, many here love him, when does Geelong re-sign him and keep him at the cattery given he is out of contract?
I'd have thought that was a priority.

Yes we do need him to commit. Will be interesting to see where he fits into the scheme of things if HMac is up and going next year.

Yep, if we lose DS and keep on TW, HMc, I will not be held responsible for my extreme exasperation, anguish , disappointment, sadness and shat-offness.

Yep Dawsons 8 games in 3 years is so much more impressive than HMc 11 in 4 years, I see where you are coming from I think:confused:

Im not sure what thread it was in but Pure_Ownage and I had a dissussion earlier in the year about trading for Adams .

The thought was trading a ruckman - West for Adams or Simpson for Adams was thrown around and at that stage we basically thought if it was Simpson in the trade , a pick would have to be added. Adams for Simpson and R2/R3 for instance. Would anyone do this deal now?

IF Simpson suddenly had a bad case of the Mumfords , seeing his back as a career shortening burden he may feel that this must be a very big contract relative to what he has done so far. Cant say I could blame him , he has had a cursed run. But right now we would have to say that DS is worth Adams and a very early Pick.

He change a lot with a handful of games , he could be better than Sandilands but he looks to be just as injury prone. He may well be the new Mr Sept , as long as we only play him in Sept , he is yet to last longer than a month or so.

Sign him up . YES. But for how much considering you almost need another ruckman to cover him.

For those of you on Twitter - give Dawson Simpson Facts a follow. Just a bit of fun, bit of a Chuck Norris type parody. Pretty much the entire team (that are on twitter) are following it now. :thumbsu:

No offense Gysenn but when someone prefaces a recommendation with "just a bit of fun", it is unequivocally terrible.

Edit: yep, not an original joke to be had.
