I started watching the highlight reel and my first thought was that he looked very slow....but then he runs down the midfielder! :D
Surprisingly enough he actually executed a fair few run down tackles during the season, which is definately an aspect of him game that I really liked about him.

I think his initial acceleration is pretty average (as you'd expect for someone his size), but once he gets going his top speed is actually pretty impressive for his size IMO.

Of all the lads picked up, this guy intrigues and excites me the most.

His size aside, I like a ruckman who's prepared to get down and dirty at ground level and do his part with the one-percenters. Ridiculously raw and long way from putting his name up for senior football, but his upside (which is probably about as big as he is tall) sounds promising.

Media reports say he had a broken wrist that he played with throughout the year, its in plaster know. Could explain low possession counts but I would think he did himself no favours by toughing it out, could have created long term problems.
Has anyone heard anything about this?

By all reports it was nothing serious, and he was able to play with it without any problems. He actually was the first ruck for Vic Country despite the injury which is a fair effort.

I'd argue that Dawson playing then 2nd half of the year got himself drafted. I'd consider that doing himself a pretty big favour.

He'll be an absolute gun, mark my words! Top bloke and great carpenter aswell, was in my TAFE course (PA, carpentry and joinery)!
He is a good bloke, My brother went to a mates party that night and saw Dawson and his other mate Ben McAvoy was there too. They where really excited about it all, but i think that they where both a lil nervous about training today. All in all I'm excited and Dawson has already promised me a meet up with the boys LOL :thumbsu::thumbsu::p:D:rolleyes: He will be missed around the town by alot of people though.

By the way he broke his thumb not his wrist and did play with it like that but now his got plaster

the cats have picked up a gem here in dawson.

one of his biggest up side is his parents kept him out of senior footy which means he still has plenty of development let in him. he played much of the year with a broken bone in his hand ( has had it pinned a couple of weeks ago) which would have affected his output through the season.

he is a down to earth country kid with a great work ethic
he is 205 cm tall with a vertical leap of 65 cm

give him three years and he will start to domminate the ruck hit outs in the afl.
