I don't see it being high contact, I think that is reserved for impacts that cause concussions.

Does Dawson have a bad record ?

Cameron's nose bled all day. If it's broken, then I'd have to guess high - even a medium impact is 2 weeks reduced to 1.

I guess we'll see this afternoon...

Sorry for intruding Freo fans but want to make my feelings known here.

If there is a dumber footballer in the AFL than Zac Dawson I want to know who it is. Seriously he hasn't played a game all year if I remember rightly than goes out and does that causing Cameron's nose to bleed regularly and need new tape a few times over the course of the game.

Dawson is an absolute spanner head, I hope the leadership team absolutely tears strips off him because RTB wouldn't do that to his golden son incase he sheds a golden tear. Like I've said before, and I want to reiterate it again you are much better off without him. Your record in 2015 without him is pretty good proof of that.

Alex is now a forward. Zac is cannon fodder to take the best big oppo forward out of the game. Nothing more, nothing less. Frees McPharlin up a bit and allows Johnson to be air traffic controller.
Besides there is not point wishing him out. If he's fit and available, he plays.

I have to agree if he is fit and available he does play but that's because there is genuinely no one pressing him for his spot in the team. Him playing does free up Johnson up and takes pressure off McPharlin so for team balance alone he becomes a critical component. But talent wise should he be playing, god no.

I think come finals time if you went in with Dawson on a Jarryd Roughead or Tippett for example he'd be found out. Pushed off it way to easy

Exactly the opposite in fact. Guys like Tippett and Hawkins are the kind of forwards Dawson plays best on. Strength and positioning are his strengths. His weakness is mobility, it's guys like Buddy Franklin who would find Dawson out.

Dawson is continually underrated by opposition supporters and Anthony Rocca kicked a bag on him 7 years ago or something so it's no surprise people would think that.

I know it's only one example but it happened on the biggest stage, 2013 GF playing on an undersized Gunston so as you pointed out probably playing on a player that showed up his weaknesses, but he was found out and in one on one contests as well by Gunston. That game sticks out in my mind

Anyhow we are digressing from the fact that Zac will face the punishment of the MRP this week (probably) for an act of stupidity in his first game back for the year

I think you are being very optimistic.
The fact that Cameron required attention all through the game even heavily bandaged is not going in Dawson's favour. He had a massive brainfart when he threw that elbow.

He let the club down with that elbow drop.

Gunston is not the matchup for him and take a look at all of Dawson's finals campaigns not just a game where the 4 goals were not all attributable to him. Every defender gets beat every now and then. Pretty sure Gunston has done it to all of them.

Gunston is the type of player that can give Dawson problems. He wasn't outmuscling him though. He was just too quick for him.

Possible Boo here Moo. Think if he is fit Silva fills this role slightly better. Gives away a smidge of height versus Dawson but has better controlled aggression and can at least have the option of kicking at similar level to McPharlin. Reckon GWS players always knew Dawson was not going to kick and would dish off a little handball and were constantly running past him to pressure the other defenders. Add the double fist when you could take a mark etc.

Hopefully Silva is fit to play so we can test part of this (no MJ), because reckon Dawson will be getting about 3 reduced to 2 with an early plea as par for that elbow.

Yes I'm being optimistic and yes, Dawson was dumb. Cameron may have been bleeding all game, but on the plus side he played out the game and still kicked goals. People making a huge fuss about it won't help his cause, the commentators especially made sure that the MRP won't be able to just let it slide.
