Carlton will bid on him, guarantee it!!!!

If only to stop what happened with Jack Viney a couple of years ago.

I read the article re: how hard collingwood were thinking about not using pick 1, thought it smelled like propaganda aimed at picks 5-7.

I think it would be interesting if they did risk it, and traded pick 8 back to the lions for pick 4 and Aish. I even think the magpies would swallow that trade, if it meant they got moore anyway...
Bidding is done before the trade period

I know, its due on monday.

What I was saying is it would be a ballsy move by the pies to try to maximise their draft by selecting 2nd pick for Moore. It was my understanding that the club not only needed to bid for f/s but nominate the pick for which they want to use. i.e. if pies say round 2 shit could get interesting.

No, the club has the opportunity to match any bid by a rival club. Collingwood don't need to nominate a pick for Moore until after the other clubs have bid.

It is effectively a last right of refusal.

Brisbane get: Beams + Collingwood 2nd round pick

Collingwood get: Lions 1st Round Pick + James Aish

As much as I would hate to lose Aish, as good as he is, its less than 50% chance he turns into a player of Beams obvious quality. I would love a midfield next year of Beams, Rockliff, Rich, Redden & Taylor - noice!

Beams is an A-Grade elite midfielder good for 25-30 goals.

I might be unpopular as a Lions supporter admitting this, but he is worth Pick 4 and a young talented player, or an established A/B Grader like Rockliff, Hanley or Rich + a 2nd round pick.

At the end of the day, it appears to me that Collingwood will just keep him for another year if they don't get the deal done. They hold the cards, he is a contracted player. Hopefully we then get him cheap next year, but who comes out looking like the bad guy is up in the air.

Collingwood for refusing to trade him so he can be close to family, or Brisbane for trying to take advantage of the family situation by refusing to offer what the player is worth?

This is a refreshing opinion.

Do you have a source telling you Carlton will nominate him?

IMO Patfull would be perfect fit in Sydney's backline. The fact he is ageing isn't much of a concern, your time for flags is now.

But saying that I really hope he does not leave, as we need him.
It wouldn't make sense for Patfull to come to the swans.

At 190cm hes not a key position player and we already have Rampe, Laidler, Rohan and Johnson even though hes injured.

Dont need 5 players who all play a relatively similar role in the back 6. Patfull at this stage is better than Rohan and Laidler but we are more in need of a KPP back there.

Unbelievable. Has been shutting down quality tall forwards for well over half a decade.

Comparing him to Rohan or Laider really makes it seem like you haven't watched him play. He's nothing like them.

Geez I hope we keep him, felt like his manager was pushing more for a contract extension than a trade.

Can't see him standing a chance against Hawkins, Patton, riewoldt & the like

Was able to do it in his prime but hes 30 years old now.
He has always been excellent on the mobile talls like Pavlich, N. Riewoldt and can take the small forwards as well. He's exceptionally valuable and his individual contests won:lost ratio must be one of the best in the league. Must retain.

I'd only trade Aish to Adelaide for Danger

How do you get him cheap next year. If he walks, he goes into the draft. And there will be a few before your mob looking to grab him. He's not restricted until the following year. Even then we can match your offer.

2017 he can be yours unfettered. So in the mean time......

I think collingwood will play hardball with brisbane and we'll end up giving them pick 4 + Rockliff + Hanleys for beams + 3rd round pick.
Let's be realistic. A swap for Rockliff or Hanley would probably do the deal. Collingwood wouldn't be expecting pick 4 and either of those 2

Collingwood's board won't sign off on the deal unless it's a very good deal involving a pick/quality player.
Remember in all these discussions.
-he is contracted.
-it is a sellers market.
-Dayne will not screw over Collingwood and sit out next year. There is no bad blood between him and the football club.
-In 2010, Dayne faced the real possibility of being charged in a rape case.
-the club hired him a QC that top money could only buy.
-the Beams family are on public record that they owe the club for life.
-Connors is a Collingwood member. Without doubt he will separate business from pleasure but he isn't going to deliberately screw over the club he goes to watch each week.
-this is a sellers market.
-it isn't up to Collingwood to get the deal done.
-it is up to Connors and Brisbane to drive the deal.
-Pick 5 is not a valuable draft pick.
-there is a clear top 4. McCartin, Brayshaw, Wright, Petracca.
-that is why Swann is kicking up a stink about the Frawley compensation.
-he knows Hine doesn't rate Pick 5 as being unique in this draft, those 4 above are the 4 best players in the draft and Heeney and Moore are considered next in his draft board.
-thus there is no difference between pick 5 and pick 15.
-to get quality, you have to give up quality.
-even more when that player is contracted.
