Hope the pies don't blink first on the Beams trade. We must be wise enough to know Lions won't let Beams slip away no matter what. In a perfect world id love pick 4+Redden for Beams and a 2nd round pick.......

If its about QLD then we can definitely discuss this with Gold Coast as well.
I go there for work all the time and it is only 50 mins or so drive from Gold Coast to Brisbane.

IF Dayne and his Manager really want us to be fairly compensated then I am sure if the deal is better from GC then he will agree to go there.

Pick 4 alone will not get this deal done. Draft picks are hit and miss and Dayne Beams is HIT not even close to miss.

On a personal note, I know a couple of Brisbane supporters and they are complete muppets.
Therefore its a good idea for you to paint us all with this brush, right?

Where did I paint you ALL with the same brush.

Do I know you? I believe in my post I mentioned I know a few Brisbane supporters and they are complete muppets.
Clearly didn't mention I knew you or any other Brisbane fan on BF.

I was pretty happy with Derek comments.

Re Beams

I wouldnt want to be Warren / Swann listening to that. I would think they are trying to figure out how they get Collingwood something more thats experienced. Whether they can orchestrate something via Merrett and Patfull then all well and good but would think ORourke woudl have to be one option albeit he doesnt fix the experience issue. Maybe sending ORourke to North and Greenwood to Pies.

Collingwood
Gain - Greenwood and pick 4
Lose - Beams

Brisbane
Gain - Beams
Lose - pick 4 and Patfull or Merrett

GWS
Gain - Patfull or Merrett
Lose - ORourke

North
Gain - ORourke
Lose - Greenwood

If the mail on Greenwood is true and that North cant afford him the value they can expect for him is less than par.

Would also think a few picks in the above would need to dealt to North and GWS to get it done.

In saying all that I wonder if Collingwood wont make him sit out. I would think thats high stakes but you would do if you think you could swing him back and / or the Suns would be in the picture as a trade for next year. Possible but worst outcome is he goes into National or PSD next year and heads to Lions for nothing. Unless you could swing him I just dont see the point of doing that.

We draft well. The decision to bring in Hines was a very good one but made a long time ago. Letting Hine do his job isn;t decision making it is a non negoatiable par for the course. We trade poorly though these days adn that's not even the important decision making in the context of where we are right now.
Trading is a little different now with Free Agency. The best players are tied up and only that 15-22 player becomes available in the main. The cost of prising someone else out amidst 16/18 teams is a pretty tough operation when everyone else is all over them.

Re talk of a Lions 2nd round pick, I really doubt whether the 2nd round selection will be on the table as they will need that for the abundance of Academy kids they will want to take this year (Andrews, Dawson, Hammelman etc) so unless the AFL is happy for those to kick in from Rd 3 (which I dont think the rules allow for) then highly unlikely as Dawson would get bid in the 2nd round and in fact all of them could be. Lions will wants Rd 2, 3 and 4 for sure.
can you explain this snoop, i thought the rules were that so long as no one bid on one of those kids before their pick at 24 then they could be taken from the 3rd round onwards?

Some really nice out of the box thinking here.

I rate Greenwood, put up some very good numbers this year and can slot a goal too. Has the ability to shut down a player while still winning the pill.

I think the dumbest thing we can do is look to short sighted and pass on pick 4 for a only a good average player just because that player is experienced.

Pick 4 is likely to become a gun and in a few years people will be lamenting it if we on trade it for a Mitchell, Sam Reid, O'rourke, Jaschk, Merrett (told he will be delisted), Platfull type.

Starting point has to be pick 4 and then something.

People are dismissing it far too lightly and if you all honestly think a Redden level talent will come in and make us a premiership chance next year you have rocks in your heads.
