I believe an option similar to that has already been put to Beams which he has rejected. Just how accommodating do you expect the club to be? Setting a precedent in which a player can live interstate and fly in for games would be pretty dangerous.
Setting a precedent where we look after our players and fight tooth and nail to keep them and nurture them would be not just a good one but the one our club needs right now in this time of crisis and make no mistake that is what it is. I don't know how much more fallout we have to see before people realise this. In any case, a precedent is only that to the extend the circumstances align. It wouldn't be a precedent for some homesick SA recruit to expect to be able to communute so his mother could still make him breakfast in the morning. This is a very particular circumstance. If it arose again then by all means we should consider it again.

So in summary you are saying that we should only trade experienced players for other experienced players of approximately the same level?
No even close to a sensible proposition. After the 2011 GF we should have pushed hard to win a flag or two with a still young and high calibre list. Even then a mix of the present and future has to be on the radar. Right now we are not in that ballpark so we'd have a different trading strategy, particularly when Beams goes.

The talk of patful and Merrett is promising.

My hope is to get orourke + pick 4 out of the trade.

If Merrett or patful get to GWS that should more than satisfy them to release Orourke. What GWS need more than anything is experienced KPPs. I think they need a ruck as well given Mumford is their only genuine ruck and giles can't get a game. So leunberger is the other option. But I wouldnt get rid of Berger if I was Brisbane unless they got Ryder.

It's the only way the beams deal is going to get done unless Brisbane are willing to part with Mayes which we already know is off the table.

So let's hope they can get patful and Merrett to other clubs as it will boost our trade position.

Even if they can upgrade their 2nd rounder to a top 20 pick and that's ontraded to us, then it would give us 3 picks in the top 20.

It would have to be this.

Beams plus Keefe for pick 4, 24 and Aish would be more like it.
That's two contracted players that have to be convinced to move to facilitate the movement of one other player.

It doesn't look terrible or unbalanced on paper but I can't think of the last time we saw a trade like that happen, especially involving a 1st year 18 year old player moving to his second interstate destination in the space of a year.

Also FWIW I've heard we've made overtures to Keefe in previous trade periods with no interest from him in coming back to Queensland.

As I said, Collingwood have already offered a number of very accommodating options. It is interesting that you don't acknowledge that. Have you considered that Beams just wants to go home and is not interested in jumping on a plane every week? You seem determined to use his trade request as evidence of a crisis.

They are very well run. Everything flows from there. They make good decisions with off field people who make good decisions with on field people.
Yes, Hawthorn seem to have their best players as leaders. Goes a long way when the leaders give a shit and are disciplined. Can't recall any smashing cars, getting thrown in the slammer, at shoot outs, punch ons, barking at Clarkson etc. Boys will be boys and men will be men.

Proposition? I was asking you a specific question. Going for a flag or two sounds great, perhaps you could provide some specific examples of what we could have done differently?

Mike Sheahan on the couch also pointed at a problem at Collingwood as a reason for Beams' departure. The other two puppets just sat and nodded their heads. No mention of his dad at all.
Sheahan "when enough people tell you about instability at Collingwood, there must be some truth to it." I'm paraphrasing of course.
Also said that the domino effect meant that Clarke changed his mind and would go to Geelong.
Speculative bullshit that reflects what goes on in here and in Nick's. Mike's been reading forums again.

What a ridiculous analogy. Are u suggesting if we keep Beams we will win the flag next year.
What do you reckon? Must everything be spelt out for you?

Its about taking a hard line in order to improve the club, in ports case they went from serial chokers to flagging, who knows in our case maybe it will stop all the bullshit we have had to put up with over the last 3 years as players hold our for more money, walk, ask to be traded etc. That would be a pretty good outcome. Sorry, I assumed you had some intelligence and could process a thought pattern on your own.

You would want to be sure that Melbourne, StKilda etc don't clear the decks for him then. Because as long as they meet his terms, he is still available to anybody with a pick before you. They will have 12 months to plan for it if he isn't traded this year (which he will be of course)
Melbourne will have millions to spend and will not hesitate.

There will always be plenty of vultures ready to pick the eyes out of Collingwood at the first sign of weakness. It has always been the same. Makes it all the more satisfying when we prove them wrong.

I reckon Orourke will be a bit like Tyson. I thought he was a dud at GWS but flourished when he came home. Similar age and games played.
Thing with Dom at GWS was he was constantly injured. Jono has had a fair go at it in 2nd half this season and not convinced he really looked comfortable. Its interesting his manager said wanted more midfield time. He would get a crack at Saints maybe but no way at Hawks and crap msg to blokes like Hallahan, Woodward and Hartung if they did get him.

No one wants you posting on our board browndog, ill ask nice. please leave.............................
Really got to disagree with you popin.

Personally I think it's great that someone from another club, particularly someone from Brisbane, can post here with balanced views and looking for a realistic outcome for both clubs.

From what I've read from BrownDog, he appears to me to be fair, balanced and more than reasonable than a small minority of some of our fellow posters on this board.

More than happy to have him contributing to our board now and in the future as the Beams trade develops.
