So you are saying that Redden and Greenwood for Beams isn't fair..?
Sorry did not mean to be so blunt but I just don't think it is good business. Lions do not have Greenwood.

Our outcome needs to be:

Beams- two players/ picks
Harry- Greenwood (with Dees pick maybe a swap of picks if need be)

Swann himself despite what he said yesterday re Greenwood indicated (because it suits) that getting Christensen would not free up one of the players Pies asked for as...'you need to keep these things separate.'

I would be pretty happy if we ended up with Redden and Greenwood and lost Beams.

Beams to Brisbane for Redden and pick 25 and the pick 25 goes to North for Greenwood.

People can't really complain if that trade went through.

Because he wants to leave Collingwood, a club he loved a couple of years ago?
I was fine with him leaving until the BnF i didn't expect him to go but come on how arrogant can you be to be drinking at a pub 15 minutes down the road

Definately not.
Beams is an out and out A grader. A maybe nearly b grader and c grader are not in the same ballpark. Greenwood is a battler who has had a good year. If he plays like that for the next 5 years he'll retire a quiality player but that's a fair if. Redden can play but he's far from a player that flags are buiilt around. Beams is one of the few we have - one of 5 and one of those is Swan who has some cloud over his body and therefore output. At least with pick 5 there is an outside chance of drafting an a player that might get there in 3 years. The reality though is when you lose players like Beams you rarely get adequately compensated. WCE ere Judd maybe an exception. That's why you need to keep them.[/QUOTE]

To paraphrase Maxy we need to stand the 3uck up and walk away from the trade table. If Brisbane really want Beams they will come after us and blink first. If we lose Beams for nothing in a years time so be it.

I have no major issues if we get unders for Beams. Say an Aish or a Redden and their second rounder, but to get massive unders ie pick 5 and a hack I would rather lose Beams for nothing in a years time. This is a trade and it is very rare for both teams to have a win. Someone will lose in this deal it is just a matter of how big the win/lose ratio is, that will depend on if the deal will get done or not.

Perhaps he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but that's a different issue entirely and one I frankly couldn't care less about. He has football smarts which is what really matters.

I was exactly the same mate. Beams' hasn't done himself any favors and the club now has to put itself first ahead of this guy who obviously doesn't respect his peers or coaches.

The club should use the moto 'What would Beams do', he'd leave us in the dark so we must do the same. Best offer and he's gone.

Perhaps because he hasn't been upfront with us from day one..........................
Dunno. I haven't heard anything from him - only from the club who are always going to give it their slant. His manager said there was more to it although he obviously downplayed the other issues a but which is his role in looking after his clients image.

There are other teams?
Greg Swann will say publicly whatever he feels will give his club the best outcome. You can be sure though that IF Christensen does go to the Lions it changes things for us and them. This trade shifts things more into our favor than theirs I feel.

Since when did the Lions become a "go to" club? They've spent the best part of the last 8 years as an undesirable destination.

The other consideration here is that Christensen just wants to get to Queensland. GCS could be where he ends up.

OK, can say Pies expect to deal with Brisbane but only if they come to the party (yes captain obvious). Other clubs are interested in trying to get him and if these deals are better for us they will be put to Beams and his manager. End of the day he will see out his contract if:

a - he will not go to one of these other clubs
b - brisbane will not match the other offers

Treloar was certainly discussed and Pies will hold to the COB Friday deadline. The logic was why would we only accept pick 5 which could be a gun or could be a dud for one of the best established mids in the game. All makes sense.

MarkT2 their is dumb but the
You can't trade a player without his concent. If he didn't want to go to GWS for instance we couldn't trade him there.
Then the "Sharpest Tool In The Shed" can play for the Pies next year......He dug his on grave here.......Lucky he is a tool like you said so it was easily done!!

Morgoth trying to be realistic with what Brisbane might be a final offer. They seem hell bent on retaining all their younger players. Before I get slammed, I'm trying to understand Brisbanes POV, whether we really give a sh*t or not.

With your insider knowledge, and I'm no suggesting it's a good deal for us, would the club accept this deal, IYO:

Patfull to GWS for pick 21

Beams to Brisbane

Picks 5, 21 & 25 to Pies (we then use pick 25 to get Greenwood in a separate deal)

We lose Beams and gain picks 5 & 21 & Greenwood.
Brisbane lose picks 5 & 25 & Patfull

I'd be very happy with that, but suspect that most on this board wouldn't, as they want to gloat to Brisbane supporters about having to give up someone like Redden.
