Morgoth trying to be realistic with what Brisbane might be a final offer. They seem hell bent on retaining all their younger players. Before I get slammed, I'm trying to understand Brisbanes POV, whether we really give a sh*t or not.

With your insider knowledge, and I'm no suggesting it's a good deal for us, would the club accept this deal, IYO:

Patfull to GWS for pick 21

Beams to Brisbane

Picks 5, 21 & 25 to Pies (we then use pick 25 to get Greenwood in a separate deal)

We lose Beams and gain picks 5 & 21 & Greenwood.
Brisbane lose picks 5 & 25 & Patfull
Its not inside info as its limited (there will be a lot of moving parts I have not been told).

The real point is the club will not deal unless they get what they want. The pressure will be on Beams and Conners and by default Brisbane.

Do not want greenwood as part of the trade.
Pick 21+25 are unknown quantities. If it is a pick it has to be top 10 pick .

Greenwood is not replacing beams,he is an addition to our midfield. What we get for beams is completely separate

Beams would seem to be foregoing a fair bit of money in 2015 if the deal does not get done. Figures bandied around have been $800k pa in the new deal versus $400k pa in the current deal. It would also depend on whether any of the current deal is performance based.

Could be close to half a million if the reported figures are correct.

That's right. But it shows he's not desperate to be with him in his time of need....therefore throwing out any Brisbane argument of Collingwood denying a son his wish to be with his sick father. If my Mum was sick.. and she has been recently... I wouldn't be getting pissed with my mates then partying it up in the US, I'd be at her bedside every chance I had.

He's in off-season now, he's loaded, he can go see his dad and he hasn't done that. It just shows that the whole thing is absolute BS. He'll have over a dozen more chances in his life to go on a holiday, he'll only ever have 1 dad.
I would say that his desire to go home is based more on an overall lifestyle choice rather than wanting to be at his Dad's bedside. Money would also be a major influence. I think we can agree that his Dad's health has been overstated as the primary reason and that Brisbane have tried to take advantage of it. I expect this move has been in the pipeline for some time.

It's not a bad deal for you but you would be ropeable...
It is most certainly a bad deal for us. A promising young player and a guy who has played one decent season in the last 5 years, for an elite mid who could walk into any starting 22 in the comp. Can you see why some of us are a little annoyed?

The deadline is set for Friday. If Brissy can't give what we've asked then the trade won't get done. It really is that simple.
Will we have to have a disgruntled player on our list next year? Yes.
Do people often work in workplaces and environments that aren't their first choice? Yes.
If Beams doesn't get on with the job in 2015 as a collingwood player then Brisbane would and should lower their offer in free agency.
Agree with first & third bits but don't discount him ending up somewhere else ie other than Lions & Pies. Others already explained that Beams not FA next year. We could still trade for him then, but are in a weaker position without contract. Lions would only be in better position if lower than any teams that can afford his price tag in PSD.

Wow. Great son.

Requests trade to be closer to dad. Leaves country first chance he gets.

Brisbane can kiss any compassionate grounds argument goodbye. Make them our bitch, Hine.
if beams is in US the hole old man thing is bs. If it was my old man id be with him or go on a holiday with him somewhere he could.. Smelling fishy... this sucks.
We all need to be a little slower in jumping to conclusions / believing everything we see in the media - it's not all fact and it's not always the full story. Obviously I don't know the full story but another poster (quoted below) suggested Beams' Dad is in Cancun - that's in Mexico. To me it's plausible that journalists report Beams as going to the US as that's where his first flight was and may then have caught a connecting flight to Mexico.

That said Beams not being at the Copeland (unless he was with his Dad that night or on the way there) makes a mockery of wanting out to be closer to his Dad and gives Pies licence to play hardball / look at offers from teams other than Lions (with the knowledge Beams has to agree to any destination).

His dad is in Cancun.

Beams is currently only on 330k. He signed for 3 years early in 2012 before he went AA and his value went up.,

Who cares what they are offering. It's still draft picks in what is a shallow draft.

I suggest they start looking for a third club, as they have just over 50 hours to get the deal done. If the Lions don't get Beams this year, I don't think they will get him next year .

I would try our utmost to get Treloar. He seems the perfect fit for the Pies with Beams leaving and he has the stats to back it up at his young age. Yes, GWS have come out and said he wont be traded but for a player who wanted to come home to Victoria last year but was denied it may be an option. If we offer Beams to Brisbane, Pick 5 and 25/Patfull to GWS and Treloar to us surely the Lions would be happy, the Pies would be happy and GWS would be the one that needs convincing.

Pick 5 and 25/Patfull is very tempting for them i think for a player who wants to return home.

Plus, Treloar is supposedly best mates with Taylor Adams.

if ever there was a deal fair for everyone surely it would be this.
