Does anyone here have any contacts inside the club??

Why isn't the club quashing this crisp proposal? As mentioned earlier why haven't any other Brisbane players come out and requested a trade to us?

Gees, even the dogs have convinced Boyd to want to come to them - this kid is more valuable than Griffen. I can't understand why we aren't in this position also?

I read somewhere that Connors has basically blackmailed us into choosing Brisbane because I we don't apparently beams camp will come out and say bucket this and that.

If that's the case, then we should get the afl I loved and get beams deregistered for trying to bring the club into disrepute.

If we buckle on this, especially hear that, I'll never have faith in this administration again.

It's like we have no legs to stand in when we clearly do. Make an example of him. If it costs us a few games - so be it. If the club does the right thing the supporters will understand.

After all the bagging out Hanley gave his ex teammates this time last year, there is no way he was going to walk. Same with Aish. Will play in SA if anywhere later in his career. Redden was untouchable. Mayes was probably the one they thought they had an outside chance with, but no cigar. The first week was just a tree-shaking exercise for Collingwood.

Been on the Facebook page lately? That's what they have been doing all week.
Just had a quick look and it appears to be similar to to twitter if not identical, they aren't posting every rumour known to man.
They seem to be posting/tweeting about deals that are more likely than not to be done; which to me implies they've been agreed to in principle.
I don't get your point, have I missed something?

hine must have something else planned with 5, otherwise i dont see him black flipping just like that. Hine may have worked out another deal with pick 5 with another club over the weekend.

Look AGAIN it's an OFFER which has yet to be accepted - no paperwork yet so it's obviously not a done deal - that's the first thing to remember.

Secondly anyone who considers that we will get a great deal for Beams under the circumstances really needs to go back to kinder, parity even will take some really hard negotiation - and that's IF Beams hasn't totally closed the door on other offers.

We are in a shitty situation and the club is attempting to do its due dillagence by all, no need to get hysterical or start hurling insults at each other - just take a breath, calm down and show a little respect for other posters.

Some of you are ranting you are ashamed of the club well some of you should be looking in the mirror first.

Coming from the opposite side of the fence, I thought the press release\message from Collingwood was concluding the exclusivity talks with Brisbane and was opening the door up for all others to put their case forward (including this big 5 club deal) for a trade.

This has allowed the clubs to get to this point. I understand you guys want to shut us out and basically not want "to give in" to us but this will probably be the best outcome for all parties because you may, as others have suggested, use 5 for another trade and all along knew getting 5 last week allows you to work other trades this week and why a "deadline" was put on the talks.

Apologies if people don't like this but just wanted to add an outside view on the mail from the club.

A five way deal is not an offer, they have to be carefully nutted out by all involved clubs until everyone is happy.

We are way past the simple Beams for 5, 25 and Crisp "offer", so im not really sure where you're coming from here.

We probably don't for those players you mentioned. Hanley is an Irishman whose brother has recently been picked up by Brisbane. He would probably be treated well and amongst the highest earners at the club. He has no reason to come to Collingwood or to anywhere else for that matter. Aish is from SA and would be wise to stay at Brisbane next year. At the end of next year he will be in an incredibly strong bargaining position to either gain a massive pay rise from the Lions or to get himself back to SA.

Even if you're the best run and most desirable club going around it can be difficult to persuade people to leave if they're not unhappy or homesick etc. The only leverage you have in the end is money.

People complaining about potential Boyd or Beams deals (neither of which is complete) would be wise to remember that not only do the clubs have to agree but the players also. Beams has shafted us by only nominating Brisbane, whereas Griffen has chosen a club that has oodles of players that are willing to leave as well as lots of picks. Lucky for WB, bad luck for us.

5 + 25 + Crisp is not what I had hoped for but is pretty close to a fair deal. If there are no serious offers elsewhere or Beams is refusing to go elsewhere this should be taken.
Clearly we didn't hope for this outcome. It's the club who emailed us saying we won't accept anything other then 5 and a good player. They backed them selves into the corner. Explanation needed.

I'm more concerned at why we are in a shitty situation. Did we read the play? Were we blindsided? Have we railroaded ourself into this position?
There is no smoking gun apparently but it seems like Swann approached Beams mid season and arranged and exclusive trade, if Beams sticks to that and refuses to go to another club our options are basically non-existent - take the deal offered or keep Beams on the books for another year.

I share your frustration spartan-magpie however I have decided to not get too worked up over the Beams trade until I hear something official from the Collingwood Football Club.

Not interested in rumours, FB, what others have heard, what others have read in on-line forums, tweets, media articles, etc.

Our club has demonstrated that it does not conduct their business through the media, a decision or announcement will only be made when they see fit.

This mooted trade with Brisbane may well go ahead however with the news of Boyd wanting out changes the landscape and may delay deals until the dust has settled.

For me, good news will be no decision on Beam or anyone else today.

I have been dealing with facts. I can certainly understand that not everyone interprets the words the same way but it is not semantics to say that the club's statement at no point stated that negotiations could not recommence nor would it have been sensible or logical to do so. To assume that the club's intention was to cynically mislead its members is an absolute nonsense. It simply stated what needed to be said so the its trading strategy could move on. The club has a responsibility to do what is in the interest of the members even if at times that means it cannot be totally transparent. From what I have seen that is exactly what it is doing.
I don't care what the club's intention was at the time it made the statement.

I care what effect making the statement had on its members and supporters.

The effect it had was to alienate its members and supporters.

This is demonstrated by the fact that you are having great difficulty pushing your "factual" pile of poo up the proverbial hill.

You should re-read the statement.

The club said that they also looked at a combination of picks but that fell through.

And they actually never stated that they were shutting the door on new offers from Brisbane, just that the negotiations had ceased and they were free to pursue trades with other clubs.
