He'll probably live where ever the boss (wife) wants to live.
Article mentions his wife wants to move back to Vic. Who knows, but will be interesting if he does decide to move back. Hard to put a value on him with his age.

Would love Beams at St Kilda if he was truly interested in a return.
Value ?

Has beams fulfilled his potential? Looked to be on the track to superstardom in his years at the pies, but is more of a very good but not elite player now

His elite status is only questioned because he has been crueled by injury since moving to the Lions.

Complete midfielder who can kick a goal, as shown by the 5 he kicked on the weekend.

IMO he will stay, if the worst happens what's he worth? 28 years old, so you would think at least 3 years left, his best footy is still very good. He'd have to worth a bit to a side in premiership contention.

Only to a side in contention. And therefore, a late first IMO and Brisbane should take it and run.
Pies smashed the Beams trade.
What's not good for Brisbane is that it appears there's other midfielders with godfather offers on the table. Wines, Sloane, Gaff etc.

Perhaps they might only get a second rounder.

Would be pretty disappointing from a Brisbane perspective if he decided to leave after fighting tooth and nail to get to the Lions, Lions paid through the nose and he pretty much gave them nothing on the field, then he decides he wants to be in Melbourne after all, hope Collingwood steer clear.

Beams was born in Yarrawonga and moved with his family to the Gold Coast at four years of age so technically his family uncle's, cousins etc are Victorian who live in country Victoria.
His mum does too, and his sister lives in Melbourne. The only immediate family he has in QLD is Claye.

Would de Goey have stayed in Brisbane and contributed more than Beams did in his four years?

You've been a bottom four club that whole time. Dane Beams was the biggest winner in that he got to be with his Dad for the final few years, and secondly all the money he got, that's a second, can't trump the first.

Purely on a football perspective, Collingwood came out like bandits. Jack Crisp has performed better than any of the aforementioned untouchables since then and projects to do so for another five years or so. De Goey projects to be a superstar!

Did you mean to quote my post?

Hell, I'd do it.

Pick 9-12 --> Brisbane for Beams + 38 & 56

We wont stand in his way if he wants to go for family reasons. If that happens I would go for that deal.:thumbsu:

It's fair. You get a good pick and we get a ready made player with 3-4 seasons left and some points.

Points wise, it's rated at about pick 24, but the 9-12 pick has better value than that for what you are giving back in return.

Doubt it.

You would think that with Brisbane looking on the improve that he would want to stick it out and enjoy the possible good times up there.

Plus the article is all speculative imo

Most of the Talk this time of year for Player Movement is just about all Speculative
