It was not an accident and he was not run off the road.

His mental and physical health is more important than football. Everyone is human after all and make mistaked

Or there was no injury at all and it was a drug suspension. Surely a hamstring or calf would’ve been a better excuse.

As Sidey said above, at that time 3rd strike players were publicly named and given a 12 week suspension and a fine. At that time, 1st & 2nd strikes didn't have any suspension associated with them. So while it's a convenient negative spin on his "quad injury" it definitely wasn't a 3rd strike consequence and it's hard to imagine that the club would have imposed a ban of that length for a 1st or 2nd strike. Under the new system, 2nd strikes now earn a 4 week suspension and a fine and the player publicly named.

A club imposed ban for some other misdemeanor potentially. Happy for anyone to provide some information about a leadership style ban imposed if that was the case. It's not like whispers about these things don't make it into the public domain.

Or maybe it was as the club and player reported, a quad injury and re-injury.

We all can make up our own minds. Until something more concrete surfaces, I'll go with the more logical and completely un-bizarre injury report.

Well, it's all coming out now so doesn't surprise me.

This goes beyond a football retirement. I wont say what I know but I am certain the news will break over the next day or two but its really sad. Wish he and his family all the best and he can turn his life around.

Hopefully this is a wake up call to the AFL with their heads in the sand regarding all the betting ads that are everywhere during a game

Why can’t you say what you know? I’m intrigued to know.

At this point now that I just wish the club or Beams would come out and just say what the hell is going on. Not sure why the process is taking so long. I think both parties have mutually agreed to what is gonna happen. I 100% think it’s all gambling related, and he’s known to be a gambler in the past. If so, pay him out and send him off with our full support. Take the hit and offer counselling and open arms for the rest of his life. But we don’t need this circus going into such an important season for us. 100% it’ll bog down the players and everyone knows how that goes. Thank you Dayne for your playing years, wish it could have worked out but it hasn’t. I’m semi frustrated but also annoyed because he is still such a talent and would be one of our first picked every week. Will be sad to see him go but cut him loose before it delves deeper and the club gets too involved.

Think of all the recent issues and read between the lines. Its very sad , goes way beyond football and honestly its sickening how easily people make jokes and light of situations like this or for example the rance rumours, the nathan buckley rumours etc that are just that rumours and people have no idea how bad that can effect the mental state of anyone involved

So you're saying he drove off the road on purpose.

And then accuse us of making light of a situation and the impact it could have on their mental health.

Okay.

Easy. I don’t think he means any harm in what he’s saying. I understand what you’re saying about the implications of it all but I think we’re jumping the gun hounding him about it.

God we get our backs up when posters from other boards come on here. Haven’t seen anything from this one in particular that implies he’s here with anything other than good intentions to discuss one of our listed players.

Also should add that whatever Dayne is working through I hope he finds his inner peace with himself and sorts it out, and goes on to have a long and happy life. His family and friends deserve to have him around, so hopefully he does everything he can to better himself day in, day out - as everyone should.

This is far too similar to Spud Frawley last year for comfort. Without wanting to jump to conclusions, I hope that Dayne has a strong support network around him and can find the help he clearly needs, be that through Collingwood, the AFLPA or elsewhere in life.

Get the feeling this is more then just an unlucky car accident unfortunately.

He drove into a power pole and was knocked out for about 10 minutes. Not good at all. I get the feeling it was deliberate. I hope he recovers both mentally and physically soon.

Correct.
This is about Beams mental and physical health and that of anyone else. Not here to stir or troll.

People make mistakes in life but this poor fella has hit rock bottom, lets hope he can get back on track in life.

What is Dayne on for a wage? If he retires on his own accord then surely we don't need to pay him out - pretty sure tigers have split up Rance's contract and started to forward pay player. With his wage I would say keeping DeGoey and Moore would be a reality.
